yeah, I'll take a look at it. I should be able to have an update for you this weekend. It's not a big change to what I'm doing already.

are you looking for an option that allows one or the other, to be applied uniformly for all messages, or the ability to do either task or calendar selectively per message? (e.g, two different menu items "Onto Calendar..." and "Onto Tasks...")

Thanks for working on this! But I think two different menu options, like "Onto Calendar" and an option for "Onto Task", would be very helpful. Something I need on my calendar and some on my tasklist. This is an awesome project!

There is a 3.5.1 in the beta directory that has basic functionality but isn't ready for prime time yet. Task fields aren't set properly, and you have to make a choice in the options menu of whether you want a new Task or a new Event. I'll work more on this (making two separate menu items, and setting the fields properly) over the next couple of days.

I personally don't use Tasks so if somebody tells me which of the fields (reminder, due date, etc) are useful, and how you typically would want them set up, it would help.

Again, thank you for working on this project. Reminder and due date are the two most important items. If we could have that, that would work well.

I've got todos with due dates in the current 3.5.1 beta and am working on reminders. I'll also add a second "Onto Todo" menu item so you can make the decision between Calendar and Tasks on the fly.

FYI, not that it affects kmoney25 directly, but looks like "reminder on a TODO" is a feature that is only supported in Blackberry OS version 4.3 or higher. Users of 4.2 won't see that field set even when it's implemented.

Look for a 3.5.something in the beta directory over the next few days.

One other thing...I've noticed on other apps like "AddtoCalendar" the option to put the email on your calendar or task list is available before you actually open the email. With "OntoCalendar" you need to open the email before the option to put it on your task list or calendar is availble. Would it be possible to add this feature to "OntoCalendar"?

Default Beta 3.5.3

Just released a new Beta, 3.5.3. New features:
- Two separate menu items, "Onto Calendar..." and "Onto Tasks...". Each does the obvious thing
- These menu items are available both in the Message list and in either the SMS viewer or the email viewer.
- Tasks (aka ToDo items) have an alarm set to match the reminder period in the options menu.

Remember to set these things in the blackberry options application.

This is still Beta until I get some comments back from users. I built with JDE 4.5 and have only tested in the 4.5 emulator. I'll try with my 4.2 8820 in the morning. Also, I think the timezone is broken for the task due date, I've read some posts about it and will look into correcting the time offset before final release.

Ok, I just tested it. And it works VERY well. It only has one issue. The task default reminder is set to date, instead of "Relative", which would give you a minute reminder option, like 15 or 30 minutes. There is no way to change this is in Options. When I pull up OntoCalendar in options, it's just for the Calendar. The calendar has an option for default reminder and duration, but not the task list. And remember, I'm testing this on a Bold, running 4.6.0.216. So I don't know if that's an issue. Thanks again for all your help. This program is going to make my life a little easier.

I'm trying to figure out how to get a "Relative" reminder set, since the API calls for a date. Note that for the time being the "Default Reminder" interval is used for both Tasks and Calendar items.

Once the task comes up you can set the reminder 'by date' or 'relative'. The due date seems to default to 6 hours in the future but the reminder is current time.

I can't get the settings to save. I go into options and set the settings I want and when I hit save nothing happens. I can't even exit settings unless I hit the discard button. Rather than that it seems to be working. I'm using a 8310 Curve with OS 4.5 AT&T.

Steve, you're correct on your observation, but there's got to be a way for it to have an automatic default reminder. That would be better than by date. Because you set the due date, and then you'd want to set a time limit for it to remind you before the task is due.

Kmoney25,

You are right. I asked about that several posts back. Hate to complain because this is such a great app. In fact its not really a complaint just more of an observation. Having to reset the reminder time is such a small price to pay for such a great FREE app.

Right again Steve. This app is probably one of the best...if not he best free app out there. It should have been included in RIM's OS build. Thanks again to rknobbe for working on this.

I've never seen this happen. What version of OntoCalendar are you using? Is anybody else seeing this problem?

Hmm, now I'm seeing a Null Pointer exception. Must have broken something when I updated the options screen code. I'll try to fix it tonight.

Note that this only affects changes to the options screen, other functionality should work ok. If you are incredibly inconvenienced, you can install the non-beta version to get the options set up correctly, then install the new version to get the Tasks support and leave the options screen alone until the bug is fixed.

sorry.
