I've been having some problems with my bold. For some reason apps like Mypoynt and Yellowpages.com mobile aren't able to detect my location through GPS. I'm not sure why this is because google maps works fine on the phone. One thing I've noticed is that when i go to advanced options>gps, it shows both latitude and longitude at 0 and it shows number of satellites at 0. Is there something wrong with my phone that it shows these #'s as being 0? My GPS is on, I have .190 OS and I've tried reboots multiple times. Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

1st my Bold has the same thing; all 0's within the GPS options, but all the apps are working off TCP instead of BIS... This seems to work for mine as well the other apps had the same issue, before I change the options to TCP. Google maps works off data and not your GPS signal. Google maps works off the cell phone towers to triangular your location, but it is not exact... Hopes this helps you out....

Basically go into eachapp and go to options and change it from BIS to TCP. Close out the apps and relaunch them and it will work.. Let us know if it doesn't!

I tried this out with mypoynt and it didn't seem to fix the problem. Does everyones phone show the information as 0's in the GPS menu? I have a feeling that this is part of the problem but if everyone's phone shows the same values then its not.

Ok, well i figured it out. I went outside refreshed my gps under the gps menu. It finally worked and located my gps coordinates instead of it all being 0. Then I accessed mypoynt and it finally worked. However, now I'm inside again and it doesn't work. It seems a bit pointless if the GPS doesn't work inside. Maybe it's my apartment. I'll try it in other buildings later on in the day.

Why is it pointless not to work inside? Do you need to navigate inside a building? GPS needs to "see" the satellites to get and keep a fix to locate you. Perfectly obvious to me. Sounds like it is working as advertised.

That's 1/2 correct. Google Maps will triangulate if GPS is not available. If GPS is available it will use the GPS receiver. In any case, Google Maps isn't a good test.

Generally in troubleshooting you want to rule out additional variables. If you want to see if your GPS receiver is working properly then go to Options->Advanced Options->GPS and choose Refresh GPS.

No, it's not pointless. It doesn't work indoors for the same reason your Dish Network or DirectTV dish (or sat phone) doesn't work indoors.

I understand that I don't need to navigate inside a building. However, when programs like Mypoynt are functioning off of the GPS they are pretty much rendered pointless if it's not going to work inside a building. I understand it's a rather minor issue because you can always just do a zip code search but it seems to defeat the genius behind apps such as these if they're not going to be able to work inside.
