I am new to BlackBerry, I have always owned a Palm Treo my life, I like the BlackBerry for various reasons, and its great. The BOLD is great.

I am having difficulties sending an SMS to an Email Address, can anyone help me how to do that? I do not have the data package and I am currently using AT&T as my service providor. I cannot seem to type in the @ symbol.

Using the previous phones, I was able to compose an SMS and simply type in the email address, this is the only one thing that is killing me on the BlackBerry.

Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

You can't send an SMS to an email address from a BlackBerry.

You can forward emails into SMS however.

I don't know if you can on AT&T but I am on Verizon and I am using the BB Storm (with firmware .75) and all I have to do to send an SMS to an email is type in the email address. Just to confirm this, I sent myself an email via SMS to my Gmail and it comes through.

Yes, but you have a data plan and have email addresses setup on your BB. The OP does not have a data plan, therefore he/she cannot send emails from their device.

Yes mckinneycm, that is true I do have the data plan on my BB with the Gmail set up on it too. That is probably what the reason is why this person can't do it but I'm sure glad they got away from that Palm Treo, that was my last WinMo device before I switched to BB and I haven't looked back since. Thanks for the insight.
