I'm thinking of getting the Blackberry Bold tomorrow. I've never had any Blackberry as a personal phone, only for work. I did research on the Bold and decided to get one but I was just wondering if there is anything else that I needed to know before I actually go and get it.

I was in the same situation as you, was actually debating between the Bold and Storm. Suggest that you go to a store where you can get your hands on both and have a play with it. Take your time, pretend you are actually using the device and make your observations. Go home after and re-read the reviews, re-think your experiences and then make your choice.

Having said that, I ended up choosing the Bold, and have not regretted it since. Proud owner for a week now!

(there's just something about the clickscreen keyboard the Storm has, really drives me nuts and can't get my groove on the typing)...

What do you need most? Is battery life VERY important for you? If yes, buy another battery and seperate charger, thats if you dont mind switching batteries and waitinf a long time for the bold to boot up each time. If you want a solid device with TOP PERFORMANCE speed and nattery life look into the nokia E71. I dare you to TRY and hill the battery! That thing lasts longer than the energizer bunny.

But if you have to have a BB the bold is the right choice.

The bold is a wonderful device. I was looking into to getting one as well, but they are just too pricey for my taste. The bold right now is VERY popular, and it seems like everyone likes it! As people mentioned, go to a store and try out both devices.

I wish ones choice only had to be the device. If you want a Storm, you get stuck with Verizon.

Now i have to figure out how to see how many minutes and how much data i've used on it with out having to sign into the carrier's website. i know for my old phone i had to just press a few keys and a message comes back saying how many minutes i have left. i dont know if there is something similar for the Bold.

If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks

With AT&T you can just dial *646# to get how many minutes you have left via free text message and I think it includes how many text messages you have left.

You can dial *3282# and that will get you your data usage via free text message too.

You're right.

I did the *3282# on mine and it gave me a number under messaging - I'm not sure if that's the number I've used or the number I have left though.

It just says under MEdia Net/Internet(MB) that I have unlimited left - that tells me that I have an unlimited data plan, but wouldn't say how much I've used.

I also got another text message saying "2/2 Limitations" - which I don't know what that means.

are there any others similar to *3282#? i know there is *646# and *225# (how many minutes you have left) but i wonder if there are any other ones

*729 = Free instant access to their automated bill payment system.

I think that's it. This page:

*Services | Wireless from AT&T, formerly Cingular

should probably be updated with new ones though
