Default Confused

Ok, something is extremely strange with my new Bold. Here are the issues I am facing, which are listed below. Feedback would be grateful. Thanks in advance.

1) Under email setup I do not have an option to set up a personal email account
2) Under service status it shows

Mobile Voice

Status: available
Connection: Mobile Network

BlackBerry Internet Service:
Connection: NOT CONNECTED

BES
Connection: Not Connect (not surprised cause I don't have BES)

How do I get BlackBerry Services? I don't understand.

I cannot use any feature with this phone. I don't think I need a special sim card because I already have a 3G sim card in the device. My browser works fine.

How do I register the device to blackberry network?

Try going to Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > Menu Key > Register Now.

Try creating an account here, and entering your PIN, IMEI:
BlackBerry Internet Service

I'm assuming it's the same on AT&T as it is on Rogers..

I'll start with an obvious question - do you have a BB data plan? If so, your SIM card would have the data on it that would allow you to configure BIS access.

If you have a data plan, then it's not being reflected on your BB. I would say the easiest way to fix it is to take it in to an AT&T store. They should be able to fix the problem pretty quickly.

You do need the BB Data Plan. Until you get that provisioned to your account, you won't get the "personal email setup" icon you are looking for.

UptownGirl wins the prize.

Registering the PIN/IMEI on the portal for the first time should push the BIS service book.

I have a PDA data plan because I use two separate devices, well now three.

So I guess the next question would be if I change to bbdata plan would I still be able to use the internet on my winmo devices?

Is there away around this? to keep my current data plan and still use blackberry services? My girlfriend has a regular data plan and her phone works fine with blackberry services.
