Hi. I am new to development on BlackBerry devices and have a few questions about ides and what not.

1. Of available options what ide is the "best"? BlackBerry Jde, Eclipse, or Visual Studio
2. For a business style app what OS platform is the best to start with?

I will have a bunch of questions along the way.

Any answers or input will be appreciated!

Hi,

As far as your IDE selection is concerned, it all depends on how comfortable you are with which IDE. I don't think it matters a lot in terms of choosing IDE. Go for the best you know for the purpose.

About the OS platform, I personally work on JDE 4.2.1, that is pretty much I think is the raw level where you'll have to do plenty of things that you might find as custom components in higher versions. But I guess this is the best one to get started with.

Rest, depends on ur choice about which platform and IDE you need to work upon.

All the best!!

i use eclipse to develop and the JDE to build. you are also able to integrate both, but that is a bit complicated and in my opinion only feasible for large projects.
if you have worked with eclipse you will feel like disabled when working with the JDE

as for the OS level, i would also suggest 4.2.1, it features most of the needed stuff and is supported by many devices.
