Default OS: 9500 v4.7.0.86/4.7.0.65 (English)

Please Login to Remove!

This is for the 9500 model, and will load on any carrier's 9500.

Software For BlackBerry® Storm(TM) smartphone

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.7.0.86 (EFIGS_Dutch)

Package Version: 4.7.0.86
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.7.0.65
Software Platform: 4.0.0.76
File name: 9500_omadrmEFIGS_Dutch_PBr4.7.0_rel86_PL4.0.0.76_A 4.7.0.65_Vodafone_UK.exe
File size: 103.04MB
Note: The Software Platform and Applications version numbers can be found under Options-About screen on the handheld.

This OS includes English, French, Italian, German, Spanish and Dutch

Download Here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...05D7C424EBAE5F

Instructions for installing either version on ANY carrier's 9500:

1. Download the above OS file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.
2. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."
3. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If, for some reason, you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to the PC again and run Loader.exe again and it should load the OS to the device.

Thanks to Foxglove for the notification.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

Thank you very much! I am optimistic that this may address some of the issues

yes Kris. You're unit came with that version.

I updated my unit with 4.7.0.65.. fantastic improvements.. however, I did run into a bug where the keyboard stays on screen even though it isn't supposed to. for example, in the phone app, messages app. Screen should pop up when you componse a new message or reply or forward, not when scrolling through messages.

A quick tip is to slide the keyboard down with your finger as if you were trying to get rid of it. This closes the keyboard.

Default Upgrade/Unlock

Hi all -
Feeling pretty excited. Am awaiting delivery Monday of new Storm
It's locked on UK Vodaphone (I need to use it on on UK 02)
If I upgrade in line with your instructions - will it:-
Unlock the phone to all Networks
Get rid of the installed Vodaphone branding.

Thanks You
Martin

My 9530 has 4.0.0.82, which is higher rev than this post so If you got your storm today, I would say this post is of no help for you.

Yes, that is the case, but some users have reported a different module being loaded that improves performance somewhat. At least I have read those comments from users elsewhere.

I didn't check the version it shipped with...

But, my 9530 has 4.7.0.65 w/ Platform 4.0.0.82...

When I installed the Desktop SW, I noticed it did push a SW update to the phone straight away (no download from BB, and the Desktop OS was off the shipped CD)...

I think mine isn't as bad as others (at least not the reported problems here don't impact me as much)...

I have several languages working in the Storm, non for input yet, but you can read in Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Russian. Check the website in my signature block for more information.
