Default 3rd Bold Lucky?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm now on my 3rd bold since August :( - maybe im like Rick offof Ice Road Truckers, and just keep breaking them!

1st Bold 20/08-12/11/08

Battery melted, after it got very hot, took it to pieces, it smelt like burning and was in a bad way

2nd bold 13/11/08-18/11/08

LED on the backscreen blew, forcing colours to bleed together

3rd bold 19/11/08- ?

Anybody else had lots of swaps, or is it just me?? lol

None for me yet, still kicking strong, ::knock on wood:: Plus my 3G radio has been stable now, except for some area's where i know ATT needs to improve on. Let's hope 3rd is a charm for you!

How much do you use it that your battery melts?

I am on mines for usually about an hour or 2 and then i stop once i actually start feeling the warmth from the battery end

it wasnt a case of overuse, it just used to get very hot, then the battery would drop like a stone, and it would Die. Orange sent me a replacement battery, but when it did it the 2nd time, it was more hot, and there was a horrible smell of burning

Im on my 2nd Bold due to the screen flickering when I typed text or when during a call the call timer kept changing the seconds. Took it straight back to AT&T for an exchange within 30 days.

I now notice that the browser is very fluid and smooth when scrolling, when with my previous Bold it was jumpy, possibly due to the screen flickering?

Yea I'm on my second one due to the thing getting stuck in GSM for an extremely long period of time! Even in places that I always had a strong EDGE signal with my 8310, would not even budge with the 9000. Anyway this one seems fine for the last couple of days, 3G working just fine in certain areas. Time will tell!

I'm on second one in a week. The first one after talking on phone for twenty minutes it got extremely hot dropped called and restarted on its own. Had to take battery out for the whole thing to cool off. Second time it happened phone call only lasted five minutes. This time there was an error message on screen couldn't make out what it was. Called AT&T they sent me a second one I just got it today 11/20/2008 hope this one lasts. Customers Service told me that there was nothing wrong with original phone that the reason it got hot was because I didn't properly activate the Bold. I was suppose to call AT&T give them the IMEI number and the number of new sim card that came with the phone. They told me that I could not use the old sim card even if it was one of their new 3G and less than a month old.
Didn't argue just real nice and asked them to please send me a new phone.
For all I know they maybe right. Running original AT&T OS .167

Default fourth one...

I'm on my fourth blackberry bold on orange UK

First one... kept losing connection, dropping calls, even when stationary.

Second one (refurbished)... kept losing connection, dropping calls, even when stationary.

Third one... (refurbished, provided after orange had started selling them again - they'd stopped selling them because apparently they were having dropped calls, losing connection etc)... kept losing connection, dropping calls, even when stationary.

Fourth one... NEW provided by Orange... still working after almost 25 minutes, though I haven't made any calls on it yet

That's pretty crazy if it is true! As long as it's a 3G sim card you should have been fine, and I don't see why that would make it heat up like that. Anyway you have a new one, so good luck with this one

Wirelessly posted (Bold 9000)

I want to return mine so that I can have a clean trackball and it creaks. But I don't like the idea of getting a refurb back, there just giving you someone else's troubled phone. The trackball on my Curve broke and the curve they sent me was worst then the one without a trackball.

I am gonna try to talk rogers into giving me a new one instead (hahaha doubt that from RoBers) I just don't want to drop. The phone one too many times and and have something on it break that I should have gotten fixed but because its been drop I can't anymore.

Has any had any luck in demanding a new phone instead of the refurb?
