Very true, i forgot to mention that. You need to be by a window or under a thin roof if you are not outside. this way the satilites can get your position.

The initial position using GoogleMaps is done via cell tower triangulation. Sounds to me like there was a tower issue and it wasn't able to locate you so the app was waiting for GPS to lock on before showing you where you were on the map.

GSP doesn't use cell phone signals AFAIK. You need to be outside with a clear view of the sky so the device can find the sats and get a lock.

thx again to all. i think i've found my solution. i had to temporarily change my browser back to blackberry browser, rather than internet browser or firefox, and then uninstall and re-download.... now My Location works! hooray

Google Maps on Bold - where's the "Find my location" option? - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

* * *

make sure in your browser settings you have the browser set to identify itself as blackberry and not firefox or internet explorer. it cannot detect that you are on a blackberry if you have the others selected. then go to m.google.com and reinstall. i had the same problem and this worked for me. it does not install a blackberry specific version of google maps otherwise.

I'm having the same problem. If I go into Advanced Settings -> GPS it shows all zeros for my location. If I hit Menu -> Refresh GPS, it will sit there forever and not find anything even if I'm outside with no trees around. It's set to Device GPS and Location On.

Do I have a bad GPS module? Should I try to exchange it at Best Buy?
