Question Help with configuring Pearl 8120 as a Modem

Please Login to Remove!

I am very new to Blackberry and I am still getting used to my Pearl 8120 on Tmobile. I would like to ask for assistance configuring my phone to use as a modem. I have already gone through the FAQ's and am having issues. I have searched and attempted to set this up several times.

Under the general modem properties, it shows the device is working properly. However, when I query the modem, it says the port cannot be opened. I checked and I am not showing a hardware conflict. It is showing the modem on COM7.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I am using Windows Vista on my laptop.

Also, going with what I encountered above, I still tried to configure it. I used both +cgdcont=1,"IP","wap.voicestream.com" and +cgdcont=1,,"wap.voicestream.com". When I try to connect, it fails.

Thank you in advance!

Tina

My OS is 4.3.0.115
DM is 4.3.0.17

I guess I need to upgrade. Do you think that might be the issue?

I appreciate your response. However, as I said above, I followed the FAQs and I also followed the ones on the BB website. I am having issues with the modem. I am going to try updating the OS and DM this evening. Thank you.

Okay so I came acrossed this thread and tried to set this up to work on my 8130 and I must have done something wrong. I get an error. Says "Error 692: There is a hardware failure in the modem (or other connecting device)."

Thank you for the replies. I called Tier III tech support yesterday. I had to uninstall the standard modem and virtual RIM modems. I then had to uninstall and then reinstall the DM. It works now.
