Default Software locks bold

Please Login to Remove!

When ever I connect the bold to the computer it brings up connecting to the desktop.... and freezes, nothing will stop it. Switching it off and on changes nothing the battery has to be removed to get the screen clear. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you solve it?

Is Desktop Manager loaded to that specific PC?

Yes, although it never actually connects to it.

Reboot both. Powered ON, remove the battery on the PC.

Reboot the PC as well.

Reconnect the BB to the USB port on the REAR of the PC--not a USB hub, nor a monitor port or a front PC port.

Then open Desktop Manager and let DM find the BB.

When plugged in, does the BlackBerry show in any charging (look at the battery indocator on the homescreen)?

What version of Desktop Manager do you have installed (Help > About)

What OS is on the PC (XP or Vista)?

Have you tried another PC to connect?

Has this ever worked on this specific PC?

Yes it is charging
version 4.6.0.12
PC is XP
Not tried another PC, but yes it does seem to do it sometimes. Would guess in total it has connected about 1 in 3
All phones I have had in the past have connected very easily so it just seems wierd that the BB is having such problems

All that looks good and up to snuff.

I just unplug from the USB.

Where is the USB plugged on the PC?

Do you still have the sync software for your other brands of phones installed?

The software maybe jumping on the found hardware. This sounds like a timing issue to me.

Default Same issue

I have a user with the same issue. Tried all the steps in this thread, but whenever connecting via USB or bluetooth to an XP machine the bold or the bold software (4.6 with media manager) locks the system. Have to shut off both devices.....

Uninstall 4.6, reinstall 4.6, same issue. Using Exchange 2007 and outlook 2007. I have tried turning off cached exchange mode, still same issue.

Anyone have a fix?

The locks tend to only happen when reconnecting the bold to the computer. Initial connection via usb seems fine. I can then disconnect and both laptop and bold perform fine.

Upon reconnection to the laptop via usb either the second or third time during the day the laptop and the bold both freeze. I can unplug the bold and it will begin responding in a few minutes but the PC is completely locked until you power cycle it...........even ctrl alt Del does nothing.

Anyone have ideas?
