Default Deleting messages on BB device and mailbox.

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Forum,

Currently when I delete message on BB device it is deleted from Mailbox.
But when I delete message in Outlook messages stay on BB device.
I'm even not sure if that feature is supported.
Anyway I need to be able to delete messages both ways . It can be even third party solution.

We are using BES 4 SP5. and exchange 2003.

Any help well be appreciated.
Thank You!

I searched our BES settings and I don't believe there is a way to do that. This way you can clean up messages to free up space on the BB without affecting your Outlook mailbox.

if you delete a msg in outlook it should synch up with you BB and delete it also on the handheld. I m running BES 4.1.6.9, Exchange 2007, BB 8330 on Alltel, If i delete on my BB they will delete out of my inbox, also if i delete out of my inbox they delete off the BB, sometimes not instantly but after a little bit of time they will or if i force a reconcile. Ive had this issue before and usually a wipe of the BB and reactivate on BES fixes it.

It depends on how your Outlook is setup. If you are viewing your actual server Inbox then they should sync up. If you have it setup to download new mail into a Personal Folder in Outlook then it won't affect the Personal Folder mail.

Also, deletions in Outlook won't reconcile properly if they're hard deletes.

I'm by no means an expert, but I saw a post elsewhere that to have deleting from exchange / outlook synchronise through to a handheld device is accomplished by having 'Hard Deletes Reconciliation' enabled on the BES: Server > Edit Properties > Messaging > Hard Deletes Reconciliation = True

Maybe its true, maybe its not, but it might be worth a try??

Anyways, I have a question regarding synchronising the other way: Currently when we delete on our devices it does not delete on the Exchange Server??

It used to prior to just recently upgrading to Blackberry Manager 4.1.4.15...

Anybody have any ideas how to re-enable syncrhisation from the handheld devices to the server?

I have tried restarting the BlackBerry Dispatcher since as per another post:

xxx8220;Try restarting the BES (or just the dispatcher service) to flush out the hard delete cache. I'm assuming these are new messages; ones that are still within the threshold of the cache itselfxxx8221;
... But the messages aren't all new.

Would really appreciate any expertise out there!

Emails are deleting in the mailbox once again!

I feel like a retard.

I missed the very obvious: It was a setting on the device that allows for synchronisation to occur from the device to the mailbox for deleted items.

Happens that we recently replaced both of the handhelds that I experienced this problem on and since this had coincided with the BES Manager upgrade we did, I was looking for the problem on the wrong end!
