Default Blackberry 8100 Question

Please Login to Remove!

My wife has an 8100. Recently she was complaining that her phone was "sluggish". Not being a phone techie, I figured I'd ask here. So please bear with my ignorance. . .
I opened the back of the phone and I was surprised that she never installed a memory card of any kind. So my first question is whether or not this could be the problem? I have ordered a 2GB card which should arrive in a few days.
And that leads me to my second question. Once that card is installed, can all the data that is presently stored on the phone's memory and sim card be somehow transferred to the new memory card? If so, how? Thank you very much!

You can transfer the items through desktop manager or you can copy it through the phone.

yes, a memory card will help keep your phone running much smoother. she should save any photos or other media to the card... pretty much anything other than 3rd party applications or anything like that, as those cannot be put onto a memory card. she should also regularly clear her history, caches, messages, etc, as well as doing a battery pull every week or so to resolve any memory leaks.

If she has filled up the device memory with pictures, music, and such then installing a memory card and moving that stuff to it will help. If that isn't the case then there is another problem. Maybe a corrupted app was installed, maybe the BB's OS needs upgraded or reloaded, or maybe the BB is defective.

I had no idea the OS of a cell phone is in many ways the same as the OS of a PC. Clearing the history and cache, for example, never occurred to me. Is there an easy to follow tutorial on this model's maintenance available anywhere?
By the way, I checked her phone and with T Mobile and she is running the latest version OS: 4.2.1.107 Would it be helpful to reinstall this?
Thanks to all for the replies and assistance. Much appreciated.

Please don't post new questions in other people's threads.

Your 8130 is running out of memory. First thing to do is pop the battery out and then back in. This will free up memory. Look in Options / Status to see how much free space you have. Move all pictures off of the device memory onto the microSD memory card that you should be using.
