Went to my local Tmo store. They showed me the box for the 7105t. It is virtually indistinguishable in appearance from the 7100t. Same color scheme and buttons. Slighly different shape. It does not have EDGE. The salespeople claimed it has a better radio. They said it will be available at that particular store on October 10.
the 7105t handheld does not have EDGE. they (RIM and TMO) will not be releasing a slim-line EDGE-capable handheld until 2006. Jeff, the handheld will be $299 with a $100 MIR (just like the 7100t when it first came to market).
...also, the handheld is NOT the same color scheme - it has no blue but rather black. the scheme is not much different, but it is different - looks much better now. the buttons are contoured now and feel a lot better on the finger tips. the send/end buttons are also bigger. the screen is now visible in direct sunlight, as well.

It does seem that the radio is better, call quality is marginally improved -- web browsing is a bit faster. The keys really are larger and more tactile -- easier to push accurately.
