Wirelessly posted

The media program handles the pictures if its already on the device. But both are handled just fine as attatchments on emails - just open the attatchment

What tells you that?

How are you trying to open the file? From email, from your Media Card, what?

Details help. We don't have to guess then.

I select the an attached .jpeg or .pdf file within an email and push the trackball. The full menu that then comes up makes no reference to viewing or saving the attached file. I've been told that Beamberry will open these files and I should install it. I just figured the phone came with some sort of viewers.

Your BB should view both natively, with no additional help.

At Options > Advanced > Applications, do you see BlackBerry Attachment Service listed?

You should. If not, have you recently upgraded the OS on your BB and left that option UNchecked in the OS upgrade?

I have similar issues. While I can open up attached pdf's I am having issues opening up attached jpeg's.

My gf tried to email me (I used to have an iphone so she forgets that I now have messenger and mms abilities for receiving pics) some pictures that she took with her blackberry and I cannot open the attachements. I get the file is not supported error.

If she uses blackberry messenger to send them to my phone, I get them just fine and they are viewable.

We are both on BIS w/ ATT. Could this be a BIS issue maybe.

She has a Pearl and I have a Curve.

possably, I understand that recently there was a security issue around pdf files, so a lot of BES admins turned off the PDF functionality until the fix was released, so it would just be a possability that it's not been reactivated yet. I'd say if your on a BES, giveyour BES Admin a shout, or is your on a BIS, give your carrier a call.

Default I figured out how to fix this on one of my BB's

My assistant and I have the Curve 8300 from AT&T I have been able to open JPG's and other attachments from emails with out issue, however he could not. We are both running the exact same OS etc have a 2 gig media card installed etc. I checked all settings to compare and everything was the same.

As a test I removed the media card from his BB and tried to open an attachment. And to our surperise it worked just fine. The problem was the media card.

We copied all data from the card to the computer, and then allowed the BB do re-format the card, then copied all the data back on to it.

He is now able to open attachments with out issue.

So if you are having this problem you might try testing by removing your card or re-formatting it. Just remember to backup your data before you format it so you won't loose your photos or data.

Hope this helps.

Didn't make a difference. I guess the problem is there is nothing in my menues that relates to opening attachments of any sort. Am I doing something wrong, do I have an incorrect setting?
