Default Getting a Bold from Carphone Warehouse

Please Login to Remove!

I want to get a Bold from Carphone Warehouse on Ornage contract. I would prefere to get it from CPW as they are unlocked and unbranded.
On their website they say that the phone is free on a £35 a month tariff and that to have Blackberry service is £2.50 on top. On lesser tariffs its £7.50. Their website says that the £7.50 version has 250mb data included but the £2.50 version only comes with 6mb. They wont do the £7.50 version on the higher tariffs. Does anyone know if this is just an error on their website and you do get 250mb or are they being a pain.
I have asked CPW but they dont know themselves.

my understanding is, the 6MB tariff has been dropped, you can only get the 250mb one now, and at last check, it was £2.50/month on Orange's webpage.

why not get one direct, and just unlock it? - CPW are not worth getting involved with!

The other reason for going to CPW was they have stock. Orange dont.

The latest catalogue says unlimited (small print says 250mb) costs £7.50 but reduces to £2.50 on £35 and over tariffs. I am thinking they are all 250mb but dont want to get it and then get charged for data at £2 a mb.

I think the terms "fair use policy" and "unlimited" should be banned under the trades descriptions act. 250mb is unlimited?

I will be contacting Orange for updates on how much data I've used pretty regularly then...

250mb is better than O2's "unlimited" blackberry data with a fair usage limit of 75mb!

Wirelessly posted

O2's limit of 75mb was scrapped long ago! Their website is out of date.

O2 now has an umlimited plan with a 'secret' excessive use policy.

Default Orange or O2?

i have been unable to decide what network to get the BOLD on...
i will be getting my phone form the CPW for the same reasons as stated above.
i have no allegiances to any network, but i will have a very heavy 3G use and CPW show O2 as having a 75MB limit to the "unlimited" BB browsing, which, as said above might not be the case. I have not been able to find any definitive answer on the O2 website. On the other hand 250MB with orange sounds somewhat reasonable. the other is issue is 3G speed, for my area it says that i will be getting the fastest possible on orange ad O2, which for orange is 378Kbits, instead of the 7.2Mbits possible on the bold. i know that it is being upgraded, but how fast is that going to be? how fast is the O2 network?

So my questions are the following:

1. What network is best between Orange and O2 for the bold?
2. Both have decent 3G coverage where is live, but which 3G network is better?
3. Do both networks have the same software issues?

Thank you in advance...

you have to remember any software issues will be on all bolds because gsm or cdma remember just because one company name is differnt they might both be GSM and the only differance sometimes is the logo and the crap software they add on to fill your blackberry. as far as networks both are good it all comes down to which one is a better price and who has a better connection where you live and going to be using it.

As we dont use CDMA here in the UK that isnt a problem. In the UK the Orange Bolds have reported problems with network problems. I dont know if that is related to the versions that Orange were selling or all Bolds that operate on Orange.
In the end I went for O2 as it was a slightly better offer for me and the reception for O2 where I am is better than Orange. Carphone warehouses website is not showing the Bold as being available on O2 anymore, in fact it was only available on O2 for about a week on their website.
