I have the 8330 with 4.5 and its ok but i think 4.3 worked better. For one, i can no longer have my phone on roam constantly like i did with 4.3. Its harder to sent picture messages and the web browser doesnt work as well. ANd im pretty sure i dont get as good signal. Maybe thats because before i had it on roam all the time. Finally rim put there softwares back on there site. I thought i was going to be stuck with 4.5.

I went all the way to 4.5.0.77, and downgraded to 4.3 just the other day.

My biggest gripe was 'clumping'. I would be somewhere with a great signal (like at my desk, where we have Sprint repeaters in the building and I'd have 5 bars with 1XEV) and would all of a sudden get several emails and a bunch of BBMessenger conversations.

This device is BIS only (never been on BES). Since it's more than just email affected, I don't believe it's email related.

Since I went back to 4.3 it's been just fine.

I haven't seen the "clumping" problem with 4.5.0.77, but then again I'm on Verizon.

I have the latest beta (I think its 4.5.0.101) with VZW and it works flawlessly. I never used the phone on 4.3 so I can compare signal strength. I was using 4.5 on T-Mo, so when I switched to VZW the first thing out of the box was the 4.5 upgrade. I cant live without docs to go!

i have to say that one thing i did notice that 4.5 did was drain my battery and some programs did not work with 4.5 yet. i went back to my stock ATT 4.2 and my battery last so much longer.

Interesting. I have been considering this myself. Had .77, then went back to .66. I have had issues getting consistent EVDO signal since I put .77 on. I can be sitting still, only moving my finger to type and navigate, and my signal will go from EV to 1x, and stay at 1x. It is a little better since I went back down to .66, but still not great. Browser seems to "like" to go to 1x, which is frustratingly slow. Anyone else seen this?

I got a replacement device from VZW just to see if this is a hardware issue, but it has the same issues. Maybe it is verizon. I just know that my wife's vzw lg 8300 will get the consistent EVDO signal while my 8330 is in the same room and keeps losing the faster connection.

I would be curious for anyone with vzw 8330 on 4.3, if you get consistent EVDO signal during browser sessions, or if you experience similar results to what I am seeing. I know that we are in a STRONG coverage area of EVDO.
