Yes I am on BES. I read all the articles and tried the downgrade->upgrade path as well but couldn't get google maps to work. Lost patience and settled for 4.5.0.52 which is noticeably faster than 4.5.0.81.

Maybe you guys can explain this to me....About a month ago I upgraded to this OS version (4.5.0.81) all was good and I was happy as I could be with my Berry... Then my son got hold of my BB and that was the end of it...Got AT&T to replace it and got my new BB today.....I followed all steps to the T but now I get an error "Uncaught Exception: Java.lang.illegalArgumentException" I can figure out what went wrong...Please help. Thanks

Thumbs up Thanks!

Your directions and info on where to get the updates were perfect. I was so worried to do this upgrade but it worked perfectly. Thanks!

You might try deleting all DM software including any possible cookies and reload from the start. It just may be bug in .44 preventing the upgrade after going down to a lower Os

Just did my first upgrade (4.5.0.55) and couldn't be happier. I had a small BES activation issue but the IT department said the issue was with the server and not the new OS.

I love the new interface for the web browser (startup screen has a google search box, short list of bookmarks and history on it), easier to read typeface and html mail.

Crackberry.com just posted that ATT is finally coming out with OS 4.5 mid-Sept ...what is the difference between that and the OS posted on this thread?

I will be using the 8310 via the blackberry international data plan in Asia

Will it make difference for me which OS I upgrade?

We don't know and won't know until the OS is released (or at least the version is identified). RIM does not publish 'change logs', so finding the differences will be done by trial and error. But none of that can be known until the AT&T version is released.

Okay I guess what I'm asking is if its okay for me to upgrade to the OS posted on this thread even though its not an 'offcial' ATT release?

And if I do upgrade to the one on this thread, is it okay to reflash the ATT one when it comes out?

A bit new to all this so.......

Yes and yes. The first post in this thread says it will work on any carrier's 8310.

You have a file on your sd card causing problems. Use the method in the link below to find it:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/medi...t-reboots.html

It can be the .dat files for thumbnails or an individual pic or video file.

Can I do this on a BB not my own using my computer? In other words, if I plug in my colleague's BB to my desktop, can I perform the update?

Yes, you can perform the OS upgrade on your PC, for a BB not your own.

The PC doesn't know the difference. I creates a "profile", so to speak, for the new device.

Do we really need a play by play of postings to yourself? Please don't do that.
