Exclamation RIMM if you have to... delay this phone.

Please Login to Remove!

As the growing sentiment of iPhone 3G malfunction is because of an immature chipset and radio protocol stack where we are almost certain Infineon is the 3G supplier and there are issues with the bold 3G radio... Would you guys accept that the BOLD gets delayed until everything and I mean EVERYTHING 3G related is fixed?

Does the Bold use the Infineon chipset? I though it used Qualcomm.

I am talking more about working out the kinks... Whatever chip it uses just the fact that the device comes out with the 3G problems all sorted out

The iPhone uses the Infineon disaster of a chipset. The Bold will use Intel gear. Any delays aren't due to that. More likely AT&T is working on tweaking the OS to add their own branding. I just got an 8820 and I can't believe how much branded crap they load into it. "Shop for Ringtones", "Shop for Graphics", blah blah blah. There were about 8 things I had to hide to get them off my screen. Similar situation with my old Moto Q9h as well.

In the market watch article it says "BusinessWeek report said the service problems have affected 2% to 3% of iPhone traffic, compared with a dropped-call rate of about 1% for all of AT&T's wireless traffic"

Thats is a huge difference. That means you are 2-3 times more likely to drop a call if using iPhone.

Don't forget the carrier. I would think some carriers might be a bit more liberal with testing results...possibly leading to earlier launch dates.

personally, I think all the negative hype about the Bold is people just needing something to say. the Bold will rock.

They really aren't that small. For every million customers, that's 30,000 people having problems. That's a lot of CR calls.

meant relatively.

highly doubt all will be calling a CS rep as well. If I drop a call here and there I get irked and move on. it happens with all carriers but it was nice to hear that it is being addressed.

glad I stuck with my v1 iPhone.... I have tested it several times against a 3G in the wild (not in an at&t store) and it is not THAT much slower.

if it's using the same chipset, that won't garantee it having the same problems with it?

Different device, different hardware mixed in. Unless the chip is extremely crappy or something.

AT&T has had that crap on the last two phone I purchased. How dare they think we need an icon to find this junk. It used to be grouped up in the media net thing but now they feel it deserves it's own icon.

Let them have their fun. Anyone who actually uses their carriers media store deserves to have it preloaded and their carrier can take the chance at making an extra buck. It really doesn't hurt anyone.

i dont think the bold as any issues like the iphone, 1 its a different chipset, RIM using quallcomm... so thats one, 2 i think we would have heard about it already considering the device has been release in other countrys for a while now and nothing has come up on the grid, here or from any of the blogsters... so i dont think anyone needs to worry
