The 8100 does not come with a video player, they probably have either the 8110, 8120 or the 8130.

Nope I am pretty sure that is the only part that does not work even with the new 4.5 O.S., but I could be wrong.

There is no video recording functionality on the 8100 with any 4.2 or 4.5 OS. Heck, only recently did they get the still camera working correctly in 4.5. It must be some kind of hardware issue that makes video recording incompatible with the 8100 sad to say.

I'm sorry, I hate to have to be "that person" (I don't really want to be but your thread hit a nerve with me) but your grammar is so bad I would recommend repossessing your Blackberry from you just on principle. I'm sure you mean well but we all learn in, what, 3rd grade the proper usage of the word don't (do not) and doesn't (does not). If you missed that day in grade school, then you owe me a "thanks" at the very least!

Rant off! lol.

There isn't any video on the 8100, HOWEVER, I have seen this talked about a bunch and one guy did post a link to a site that has a "hack" of sorts to get it to work.

I have no idea whether or not it works though and haven't read anything on its usability (don't have to worry about that on my 8130 , but that also means I have verizon )

Well, you can't record video, but you can certainly watch videos on it. I have a few videos on mine for those after lunch dumps.

Have anyone given this a try. The feedback on that forum thread is minimal. It seams that there was some color balance issues but so was the still camera in earlier betas. It would be great if it is that simple to get video recording working, even if unofficially.

Yeah....right.....okay.

As we are all aware, this is a very formal and proper site so please refrain from using improper english when posting questions. All future gramatically errored questions will first be referred to the dictionary forums for lessons prior to said question being answered. Come on already... leave the teachers hat at school.

Ok, forget the video camera (it works, it's green), I finally have a flashlight. I set the video camera app to my right convenience button, set the video light option to on and instant flashlight using the camera flash. Makes you wonder why this option isn't available by default when all it takes is a 26.8k file.

Yes! Finally, a flashlight that uses the camera flash! Thanks dak for posting up this link. It works flawlessly for me!

The only issue with the video recorder solution is that everytime you run the DM app loader, it will want to un-install the vid recorder (even if you put the .cod file in the Java folder). Oh well, not a big deal to re-install it.

This should get it's own thread? I think there were a lot of people wanting a flashlight that uses the camera flash, and I think this is the best solution we will get for now.

I used to have a 7100, it would turn the backlight full bright for a while when I pressed the top button. Now I have an 8300 Curve, No video recording so the flash won't do it, Freelight works somewhat but I keep my backlight fairly low to conserve power and that it doesn't boost it. Anything else since 9/08?
