You can actually use a non 3g SIM to get 3g Data. I have an old AT&T Wireless SIM i use in my 8700, swapped it out to the Blackjack (which is unlocked by Cingular anyways), and can get 3g speeds...

I think it is the fact that they will not allow the service book. I work for Yahoo! and I have Y!IM on my blackberry but we have to send the IMEIs to Cingular for approval to add the service book.

Hmm, well maybe a batch is unlocked. Do you have a Cingular SIM card you can try in it? The reason I ask is, I have a Cingular Blue (AT&T) 7100g that is cingular branded, but only the AT&T sim works....

Let's hope so, but I have a feeling it may never be released for Cingular Blue customers...That would force everyone to migrate. I doubt that will happen though. Too many NBO customers to piss off...

7290 is out on AT&T Wireless

I received it today. Has AT&T logo on it. Not sure if it is locked or not, I didn't get a chance to test it today. I like it a lot!
