Since you are able to use the device (text and call), then the unit is not locked to T-Mobile.

Have you tried re-entering your PIN and IMEI numbers in your BIS website?

I have several blackberry devices and I do all their OS upgrades in the same desktop. Works fine with me. Just don't forget to delete the vendor.xml file each time you load a newer OS.
