I have an 8100 and was using BBA version 1.5 I was getting different LED alerts for everything, including voice mails. But I recently wiped my phone and re-installed BBA program, again version 1.5. Now I'm getting the same color LED for both SMS/MMS and VM alerts. Something must have changed in the BBA program. I can't get the VM to LED alert it's own color now, it always mimics the SMS alert color

I have my voicemail indicator set to a different colour than my missed calls, and the voicemail led has priority over the missed calls led (which is what I want). However, voicemail notification apparently differs by carrier, and I have been with the same carrier always, so I have no basis for comparison... it just works for me.

As for needing the registration number to work, that is for voicemails, high priority and pin; but the trial version still does missed calls, emails and sms, IIRC. I realize that you know that, but the wording of your post made it sound as if no alerts at all worked if one didn't register.

Anyways, I can't see anything offhand with anything set up incorrectly based on what you've written. If it was blinking red, I might have suggestions, but if it's blinking green like your email one is, then I'm not sure (fwiw, I try to avoid green because it's also the network indicator which I use but probably most people have that turned off [but I usually am in my basement at home which has dicey coverage]).

I am also running the latest Pearl OS .101 and have the LED VM/SMS issues when running .49. I simply cannot launch .50 from the home screen.

I am continually upgrading to the latest & greatest OS as they have been coming out and have found version 1.3 of BB Alerts to be the best.

I am continually upgrading to the latest & greatest OS as they have been coming out and have found version 1.3 of BB Alerts to be the best.

Do you know if BBA version 1.3 allows the "Pearl" to alert along with the LED like version 1.5? I'm hoping but I doubt it

I guess I am not quite sure what you mean as I never had 1.5 running.

Oh. The 1.5 version has an option where you can "turn on" the pearl to match the alert colors for the LED. So both the LED and pearl will blink. I really like that feature. Maybe I'll try going back to an older operating system, version .88 worked with 1.5 I think.

Ahhh..no 1.3 will not let you do that. I use ColorPearl anyway to leave the ball blue so I don't need that

I dont think that is possible, because the program isnt "syncing with your message indicator", rather its "noticing when you get an indicator".

The program/author states it dosent work with all carriers voicemail.

OK...I am starting to go crazy. I have been using v1.3 of BBA for quite some time starting around the .64 OS release on T-Mobile who is my carrier. I have been upgrading all along as the new Pearl OS's have come out from the 4.2.0 platform up to the 4.2.1. See below. I never had any VM/SMS issues with the VM indicator reflecting your current setting for SMS until I installed .101. I decided I really wanted the differentiation so I went back to an older OS and for the life of me cannot get the colors to be distinguished like it used to work. (white/SMS and red/VM). My VM indicator is still white even after having rolled back to the 4.2.0.71 Cingular version. I have wiped the handheld using JL_Cmdr each time I upgrade/downgrade.

Has anyone seen this issue on Tmo? Have they changed way they send across the VM indicator? I have also tried v1.2 as well as 1.49 and 1.50 of BBA and still cannot get the 2 distinguished.

I have experienced the exact same thing! I tried going back to older operating systems as well, with no luck. I think he must have tweaked BBA in general. Then after wiping the device and going back to download BBA OTA, we got the tweaked version(s)? That's the only thing I can thnk of? I doubt it's T-Moblie issue?? I agree though, it's VERY annoying to be getting an SMS alert for a VM. I really need to know when I get a VM ASAP.

Interesting.

I still cannot explain how I have wiped the handheld, reverted back to a very old OS, installed version 1.3 of BB Alerts and it still will not differentiate. Both the OS and BBA had worked previously in the past.

I have tried both older OS and older versions of BBA (as you have) and have not been able to replicate past performace of the BBA program alerting for VM.

Well, I tried an experiment to see what the last few posters were talking about and called my BB from work and left myself a voicemail.

My colours are set as follows:
Red = Missed Calls
Purple = SMS
Cyan = Voicemail

What I got were alternating Red and Purple LED notifications; which made sense because I did miss a call, and I did get a system-generated (I think) SMS notifying me of a missed voicemail. What I didn't get (and perhaps this is what you folks mean) is a 3rd alternating Cyan colour to tell me I had a voicemail message.

As a secondary experiment, I disabled the SMS notification to see if it was somehow interfering with the Voicemail notification. On that second voicemail, I only got red blinking, and not red and cyan.

Hmmm... I could have sworn it worked once before too. I have only used one version of BB Alerts (1.49) but I have upgraded handheld OS's twice (currently using .101). Personally, I don't mind because I still get the SMS notification (as opposed to no notification at all), plus I still get the "Cassette" icon as a reminder.

Thanks for trying that out. It seems the trouble lies if you at one point in time have installed either .101 or .103. There's no going back

In my BB Alert logs, from the bottom up, my entries were red, purple, red, purple, cyan.

So either BB Alerts has changed, voicemail indicators from our carriers has changed, or the OS changes broke something. As unlikely as the 'carriers' scenario is (I mean what are the odds all our carriers changed this at about the same time?), it seems "the most likely of the unlikelies".

PS - I wrote this before reading your reply above. But leaving it unedited -- heh, we arrived at different conclusions. ;)

Whenever I call into VM and then exit out my VM indicator always starts to flash even if I went in and had no messages. I can't trace this back to when it started...it may have always done that. I just have to hit end a few times.

But, unlike yours which will flash your correct VM color, mine will flash the SMS color

FYI...just upgraded to the 4.2.1.107 OS that T-Mobile US released today for the 8100 and still same behavior with the VM/SMS color alerting.

I just found this software and the idea is wonderful. I say the idea because I can't seem to get it to load at all. I installed the most recent trial version from Handango (I have a Verizon 8830) and it sure seems like it installs fine. But when I go to my icon page and click on Blackberry Alerts, it does absolutly nothing. I can't bring up any configuration page, no nothing! I even tried to remove and reinstall it, and that yielded no results.

Anyone else have a similar issue?
