Default Slingbox , etc...

Please Login to Remove!

If I recall correctly I think I read somewhere that slingbox will not work on the 8320. Is this true? True for any BB?

What, does it have to be a WM OS in order to work ie. wm5, wm6

Will Orb work?

thanks

Slingbox announced just a little while ago they were going to work on a program which allows Slingbox viewing on BB so there is nothing yet. Slingbox will work on WM devices.

I guess just something about the compatibility of the software as to why it won't work? Slingbox was made specifically for WM?

Will Orb work? Orb Login

Thanks

Sling was recently sold to Echostar and they've been busy with new products. On the Slingbox forums they did say (finally) that a BB version was in the works. They cautioned, however, that it's going to take a fair bit of time. In short, "don't hold your breath."

Do keep in mind that although it takes a lot of Slingbox viewings many unlimited data plans aren't unlimited. A solid chunk of watching movies (there's actually a chart floating around with approx data useage/hour of Slingbox viewing) could cost you your wireless account.

It's called "fair usage." They can cancel your account if they think you're "abusing" it. Unlikely with TMobile but possible. Just something to keep in mind.

Most of the griping I've heard is from Verizon customers. Perhaps that's because CDMA was the first on the 3G bandwagon and people were doing a lot of streaming. But, as John pointed out, unlimited isn't.

Thanks John. Like when u were explaining the H@H, I said I worked for Tmo before the H@H, and they never explained the Fair Usage concept, but I suppose they wouldn't.

Is this legal according to the FCC, or who knows, maybe even mandated lol

Is one company known for having used it more in their history than another?

I guess I will just try the Orb when the phone arrives tomorrow. My UPS doesn't deliver til 630 pm

I think it's in all that fine print that nobody ever reads. Some carriers are worse about it than others. I've never heard of anyone on TMo getting dumped for using too much data. They even help you setup your phone for use as a modem for your laptop.

speaking of Verizon using 3G. Alll of their phones are 3G. Again , being new, don't know much about this.

I did read in Wikipedia or somewhere ...we had analog, the digital with cell towers, now the latest is 3G. So they actually gave the speeds of 3G depending on if u were still or in a car, and I am assuming the speed of the digital we had was 850mhz, 900 mhz, depending on what bandwith (? what is proper) u are on

So can you answer the last part and tell me why the speeds of digital, if that is correct are in terms of hz then the speed of 3G is in terms of kbps

Feel free to correct any part that is wrong. And why wouldn't all phones be in 3G? Are there downfalls. GSM is still the preferred client tho right. verizon, aside from having 3G, has the main upside of being so huge. GSM you can still use other carriers towers, use overseas, and unlock, right?

thanks John, I am sure you will answer, and anyone else with this knowledge

Question

I was wondering, was anyone able to get Orb to work with their 8320? I was thinking of trying it out and wanted some current users' opinions...

Thanks!
