What mail platform are you running?

Do you have T-Support?

Download the appropriate upgrade guide

Ooops. I forgot to mention that. We are running Domino 6.5.4 which will be upgraded to 7.0.2 before upgrading the Blackberry.

The Domino geniuses here I guess will have some good advice on what to do, if anything with the underlying mail platform.

From a BES Perspective you'll want to backup your database at a minimum ... this doc states its for Exchange and GroupWise, but some of the content is relevant for all platforms.

I'd also recommend printing out the 4.1.4 Domino upgrade guide to have with you as a checklist to go through. I print out an install guide every time I do an install to make sure I don't forget anything.

it bit me.

Do i need to do any SQL functions during the blackberry upgrade. SQL server is running on a remote machine its not on the same blackberry machine....Is there anything i have to do apart from the below point.

1) Stop all the blackberry services through the Windows Services pane.
2) Quit the Domino Server.
3) Upgrade the Domino Server.
4) Upgrade the Blackberry from 4.0.6 to 4.1.4
[Click next --> next --> next -->]
5) Once the upgrade is over start the domino server.
5) Start all the blackberry services.

Did i miss out any points here.

Regards

Nothing needs to happen specifically with SQL ... however you should identify through the 'BlackBerry Server Configuration' whether or not you are using SQL or Windows Auth, and make sure the credentials being used have Database Creator and Server Administrator permissions.

Also, I would NOT install MDS Services unless you need MDS Services. This is not the same as MDS / MDS Connection Service which allows you use use the web browser functionality on the HH (along with other things)

Default Upgrade BES 4.0.1 to 4.1.4

I inherited a BES 4.0.1 with Exchange 2000 running on a Windows 2003 Server platform. I need to update my BES to 4.1.4 and also update my server to SP2. Has anyone done this? If so what was the outcome. Also, since my BES is so out of date, is there a roll-up solution or do I install each HF individually?
