Just got a Dell desktop for a friend with XP.

BTW - I have Desktop Manager running fine on several Vista machines. Just fine. Some with BES and others on BIS only. Install as Administrator is your friend with Vista.

I haven't even used Vista yet. However, I've already learned, just by reading here, about the "Install as Administrator" feature. I've impressed some friends who have gotten Vista machines. They think I'm some kind of "expert" and I've never even looked at it.

Install as "administrator"
Are you referring to the DM itself?

Yes. when you install a program on vista, simply right click on the .exe file and select "Install as administrator."

I am trying to install now. I have to had to go back and forth with it. My system will tell me that my connection was interrupted and to go back, yet it is still installing properly.

I did experience a successful installation. The only new issue I see so far is the slow startup of from Vista. If I need to use your DM and you are first turning on your machine, I guess the advide is "be patient."
