Question More than 1 BIS service providers

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

I am a newbie in this forum, I just recently purchased a Blackberry Curve 8300, I am beggining to love this device from the first minute after the unboxing. However, I travelled around Asia very frequently and I literary live in 2 different countries. I have a question regarding BIS services;

1. Can you register your Blackberry PIN under 2 different BIS service providers in a different country? (eg. When I am in country-A; I use BIS Service-A GSM-card. On the other hand when I am in Country-B, I use BIS Service-B by swapping the GSM SIM cards but using the same Blackberry device)

2. If so, is it possible to have the same e-mail addresses pushed to the same Blackberry device?

3. Any suggestion if you were in a similar situation?

Basically in Asia, the data-transfer rate cost more than what they charged in the States. Some countries do not have unlimited data plan. Especially when you are roaming in another country.

Thanks in advance,
Em

You only need one BIS account.
Each provider (SIM card) must have a BlackBerry Data Plan provisioned on it.
As long as your device can connect to the BlackBerry Network... then your BIS account will function.

Basically... get two SIM cards... both with BlackBerry Data Plans... but only set one of them up.

Thanks for your quick reply.

Yup, I did created a BIS account.

I guess I will only need to subscribe to a BlackBerry data plan on the other country.

Thanks for your clarifications. I guess I will love the BlackBerry more!

You'd have to have the carrier whose SIM you're not using delete your BIS account each time you swapped SIM's and then create a new BIS account with the carrier whose SIM you're inserting. It's a lot of trouble.

With BES, you could just swap SIM's as long as each SIM has a BES-enabled Blackberry data plan tied to it.

If that is true; that will be trouble some!!!!

But, what if I register the same BlackBerry PIN under the other second cellphone carrier, and do the same email setup (eg; google, yahoo,, etc). Basically, I would do the same thing what I did to registered with the first cellphone carrier.

Do you think its possible?

TIA,
EM
