Default 8100 Parts?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm looking for a specific part for my 8100. It's the small silver button on the back that holds the battery door on. One of the tabs broke, so when I take the battery door off, it falls off.

Anyone know where I can get one of these? I don't really want to go through the hassle of a warranty replacement for such a small part.

*** EDIT ***

Found it at BBrepairshop.com - BlackBerry Repair Parts for BlackBerry 8100 Pearl - but they want $25 for it? Come on, doesn't that seem just a bit ridiculous?

It sure does. Seems to me they make money by just buying up BlackBerries and selling the pieces at 500% markup.

Heh. I just think that $25 + shipping for a small piece of plastic is a bit much. The only time it can fall out is if the battery door is off.

You have a point, but as you know, it is whatever the market will bear. Somewhere there is someone who will pay that amount because they really want the part.

For example, a member recently paid about $70+ for the trackball from a site selling them. While he complained about the price, his dirty trackball was really bugging him. So he had a fully functioning trackball, but it was dirty. So to him, $70+ was an acceptable price to pay simply to get a clean trackball.

You're absolutely right. Anything is worth what people are willing to pay for it.

Not to stick up for the retailers, but there is more to it than simply making a judgment as to what a part feels like it is worth, e.g., small piece of plastic.

I am selling a parted out Pearl [that I bought so I could get the keyboard because I can't see the T-Mo keyboard all that well] and on selling the parts I have to:

Disassemble the Pearl without causing damage;

Take pics;

Upload pics;

Post the ad;

Answer questions; [deal with flakes]

Arrange payment;

Package the item;

Then ship the item off.

There's a lot more work than simply holding the part in your hand, thinking "Well this weighs about 1/4 ounce, so it should not sell for much."

I don't think any of those parts sellers on the Net are making 500% profit. If they were, lots of people would be doing it. Go on eBay and you will see there are quite a few "Pearl for Parts" auctions, with a BIN of about $90. If one knew they could make that kind of profit, those phones would be snapped up.

Just my opinion.
