I agree. Why would you even try that? They are different batteries.

So you swapped different batteries - marked as different - and it didn't work.

Where is the issue (and the stupidity)?

Yea, but with the extended battery cover, I think you might be able to get one of those 9-volters in there.

I was having a verbal battle with the team that supported iPaqs internally (years ago) and I sent them a truck battery for use in their power hogging pigs. Not a picture; an truck battery.

From my experience with unlocking phones onsite I know for a fact that the same battery will work on 7100, 7130, 8700, Pearl

Older 7100 batteries would not work in 8700's... However, security-enhanced batteries (CS-2) that work in 8700's also work in 7100's. I bought a few CS-2's and they work interchangeably.

There is probably a modified security mechanism in Curve batteries. There is still probably compatibility, but the question is what battery the Curve needs, and what devices the battery is backwards compatible with... I would imagine that a Curve/8700 battery would have a wider backwards compatibility than a Pearl battery does.

This is done in order to prevent counterfeiting of batteries -- poorly-manufactured batteries can be dangerous (explosive -- see DELL recall) and be a liability for the company.

If you find batteries that also work in Curve, please write down the label on the battery (i.e. "CS-2") so we know what battery codes are compatible with Curve.

Edit: Googled for information. I think CS-2 works in both Curve and Pearl, while CM-2 only works in Pearl and not Curve.
