Default Remote Desktop Client for BB 7520 (Nextel)

Please Login to Remove!

Hi Everyone,

I have done some searching on the forum and have found that software for remote desktop is kind of hard to find. I used to have a pocket PC which had a really nice MS tool to link right to any computer running remote desktop (like windows XP). I administrate an entire datacenter and it would be great if I could run some type of remote desktop client on my BB. Has anyone seen anything like this? Any assistance would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I know that there is a VNC client out there as well as http://www.desktopmobiles.com/ , however I have never tried either on the 7520 due to Nextel's speed limitations.

You should try Idokorro Mobile Admin, it essentially provides the same functionnality as Terminal Services, but it is highly optimized and much faster (no graphics are sent through the connection).

I think that Idokkoro mobile admin is not really remote desktop software, you cannot view and interact with Windows desktop, only telnet and SSH. But I can do it with Remote Desktop for Mobiles from http://www.desktopmobiles.com/.

Idokorro Mobile Admin is not Telnet or SSH (you are confused with our Mobile SSH product). Mobile Admin allows you to completely control Windows computers without the need to send the graphics through the wireless connection (which can be slow and expensive). This is an ideal solution for managing a datacenter like JonathanC requested.

Ok, here I have to administer db2, oracle, mssql, msaccess, SAS and R3.)) I need to change tonns of settings, create user accounts, maintain databases and i cannot do this tasks without access to desktop.
Also, without access to desktop it is impossibe to perform such simple administrative task as disk defragmentation(with standard windows defrag).

Mobile Admin can administer Oracle and MSSQL server, the other database admistration support is coming soon. As well Mobile Admin can create User Accounts. Disk Defragmentation is interesting, we will add it to our list of requested features for a future release, we build all our new features based on customer requests, simply request a feature that you want and will add it.

If it weren't for the cost I would be all over Mobile Admin. Featureset looks amazing.

We recently changed the pricing model of Mobile Admin to make it more affordable. There is no longer an 8 server minimum to purchase it, you can purchase just a single server for $245, less than the price of an average BlackBerry device.

Exclamation VNC - Option

You can get the VNC version from source forge. I've used it with work (I.T. Field for a large wireless communications company) and it works fine.

Remote Desktop for Mobiles costs only $29.99 and its quicker and much usable than VNC.

Plus, if you're using the free version of VNC, you're opening yourself up to quite a security risk. They've done a bit better with the new enterprise version, but I finally moved off of VNC because of an exploit that ended up getting one of my servers hacked.

I use logmein for a remote desktop solution that is wonderful, but I too am looking for a good mobil solution that will allow me to do the same from my blackberry (Remotely Anywhere works with the palm, but not the blackberry). Remote Desktop for Mobiles looks promising.
