In case no one has noticed

I upgraded my google maps to the UK version (more london detail) and noticed the main menu has GPS bluetooth input.

this is quite cool I think, as the maps are excellent.

I havent tested it yet

you get it OTA at Google Maps

cheers

U.S. version is also GPS enabled for the 8800. Take out the uk from the link and follow the link which will give you an option for the 8800. Seems to work fine with internal GPS.

Take the place of TeleNav? Have you gone mad?

Here is the original thread that has a bunch of posts regarding this functionality.

No, I have not gone "mad". I apologize; I'm quite new to the Blackberry world.

I recently bought the 8800 off of one of my friends (which already had google maps installed). Do i have to re-down load the application to get the google maps with the GPS functionality or should automatically be available in the app on my phone. If i download it, do i have to anything with the already installed instance of google maps on the phone? I am on TMOBILE if that matters.

I'm not positive that you have to reload, but I did it twice until I was certain it worked.

On the original version, I didn't see the blue dot, which is the pointer to where the gps says you are

i downloaded maps and it didn't seem like anything changed. Then I did it again, and it installed and told me I had to reboot.

Rebooted and now I have the new version

Default Google Maps Gps Feature, How Do You Get It To Work???

i have BB 8700 currently running on the latest OS (if that matters) I wanted to know three things. One what is a "Puck"? and does that affect the gps feature on google maps?

Also in laymen's terms how do i actually get the feature to work barring those issues or generally speaking....

If possible you can reply to my pin @ 23D2EDC9

A puck is a small, round piece of frozen vulcanized rubber used to play hockey.

"Puck" refers to a small bluetooth GPS receiver. You need one for the 8700. Check out the thread about the HoluxSlim 240. I had one and it rocks.
