Default BES will not sync with GW

Please Login to Remove!

I have installed BES 4.1 on a 2003 server box, installed the key generator, generated the key with Groupwise's wpdomain file, installed the BES. Novell ConsoleOne sees the BES as a trusted app.

When the server is rebooted, it constantly hits the groupwise server. The message logs on the groupwise server show that the administrator account from the windows 2003 box is trying to authenticate with the groupwise object of whatever user name i place in the admin account box in the groupwise settings tab.

I cannot seem to get the two to sync. The servers can see each other, the BES is trying to authenticate with the groupwise, but it doesn't do anything.

Also, the gwservice hangs and then fails at startup. This then causes the GWcheckpa, GWconnector, GWchecknew and all of those little services to crash.

Can any of you help me out?! TIA, this is a really annoying problem.

Which version of the GroupWise client, which is installed on the Win2K3 box are you running,

do your BES logs with the preffix GW* indicate that there is a mailstore probelm,

do your windows event logs state anytihng when the GWService and others are trying to run.

Groupwise client version 6.5.4

In all of my logs, there are no files with the GW prefix.

In my event logs, (other than the GWcheckpa, GWconnector, GWsoapconnector), this is the actual text in the event log about the Groupwise service "The BlackBerry GroupWise Service service hung on starting."

Im thinking about wiping and reinstalling.

I believe its your client version
use 6.5.7 date > 06/11/06

others have had similar issues,
if the services continue to keep failing then i would re-install again
i'm assuming you have none or little users

I have a question. in the groupwise settings, what would I put for the "Admin user" text box? Is that someone who has administrative rights to the groupwise server?

UPDATE:

I can now see address book listings, but everything else is still not working. It gives me an error that says "make sure that the entry at xxxxx (registry location) is a valid groupwise user account."

I have added 5 users that exist in the groupwise email server. Their status says "initializing" and nothing else. The groupwise log shows that the BES is trying to log into it but failing. any help?

Yes the activation message is still in their inbox.

Now, users are getting messages in their inbox from a RIM server. The BES cannot see the users. Messages are coming into their inbox that are to be used by the server in authenticating with the server.

God damn I am almost there. Please Help!!!

Sounds like the Wireless EA isn't completing. You need to look up the KB article on the "Unable to Wireless EA" issue. There's several scenarios it will provide for you to troubleshoot. The most popular problem is your spam filter appending too many "X-Headers" to your activation message. We had the same problem with v4.1.3 and have since downgraded to v4.1.2. RIM states the activation agent within the BES is more strict in v4.1.3 than in previous versions. You'll need to check the Mime.822 headers in the activation message to see if the dat file's been modified.

Also, if I run GWCheckpa in the command window, should it run successfully or should it fail? Mine fails, saying login is incorrect. On the GW server, I can see individual users from the BES trying to login, but they are unsuccessful.
