Default Pearl Video Camera

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

Just brought a Pearl and love it! However, realised that it's got a limitation which I didn't think it would, in that the camera won't take video clips (or at least I can't work out how to do it if it does.) - does anyone know how I can get this working, or if there's an app out there which I could use instead? Have tried searching the forum but to no avail...

Thanks!

Huge.

The 8100 can't do video clips.

If someone told you it would do so, they were pulling your leg.

Hi,

But I don't understand why not - surely it's just a software thing? The camera is there, all it needs to do is capture at 12fps or whatever - almost ALL mobile phone camera's can do this, so why not the Pearl?

So going going back to what I was asking additionally - has anyone written one, or is there an app out there which will allow this to happen?

Seems like rather a silly oversight to me on Blackberry's behalf......

Thanks for the reply though!

Huge.

yes its a bit silly but the reason is security. RIM's thing is always security (took them a long time just to put on a camera on a berry).

we can hope for an app that will do video recording but it doesn't look like that will happen either because RIM has not released the camera API's, therefore it makes it almost impossible to program.

or maybe RIM will just decide to surprise us with a software update (we can always hope, right?)

As Mike said, they haven't released the API for the camera, unless they do that, no one can really code anything for that part of the phone.

Just an idea, can you put a question mark in your thread title so that people
won't think this is an announcement that there is a program for the Pearl
that will let it shoot videos.

I was fooled by the thread title and dismayed to see it was yet the 15th
thread where someone has asked about the Pearl not being able to shoot
video.

I thought that someone finally came out with a program.

A question mark in the title would have prevented my being disappointed.

Hopefully the new BB phone versions will come out with better multimedia features, if not, then a good contender for me will be the SE P1, it will cost, I'm just hoping not much.
