I got the following error on my 8800 T-Mobile on BES:
Uncaught exception: DSSMA: invalid state(5): 426

It is reproducable. I only need to select multiple email (e.g. 5) and delete them on "Mailbox and Handheld"
After the error I can no longer bring up any email screen until I reboot.
All other functions seem to be fine.

Any ideas anyone?

Ok, shame on me, as usual the search button helps.
The old standard solution for most BlackBerry problems is still valid - remove, wait and re-insert the battery...
But it would still be nice to know what exactly causes this error.

I have a pearl and i am getting a very similar message:

Uncaught Exception: DSSMA invalid state(5): 950

I selected about 5 emails did a delete and then i got the error, i cannot go back into my messages, if i click on the icon i get the error. If i do a full rebooting by pulling the battery the error goes away, but then i will get it again if i do a mass delete.

I just installed the latest 8800 OS from Rogers (8800M_PBr4.2.1_rel138_PL2.3.0.72_A4.2.1.90_Rogers .exe) and tried again to delete multiple mails. No problem. I'll have a close look at this behavior. Maybe it is fixed, maybe it just works because the device has been reinitalized.

So, did you find that this fixed the problem permanently?

We had a user with a similar error code on an 8700, and I'm wondering whether an OS upgrade will help.
