Default Beta testers wanted for LexSpell spelling checker 1.5 on 8800

Please Login to Remove!

There seem to be a specific OS change in 8800 compared to the previous BlackBerries that affects our upcoming spell checker release.

If you have 8800, time and patience drop us a note.

We will be asking you to load (via desktop or OTA, whichever is easier to you) a few builds of the spell checker until we pinpoint the problem and resolve it.

I wouldn't expect any risk for your device and data, all other aspects of the application are long proofed...just this one bug that only shows on 8800 is still escaping us.

Help us and we'll give you whichever software you may want from BEIKS.

Seriously, I can't.

On the bright side, just a little longer and you'll be able to flash your 8100 with the 4.2.2 ROM, which will be...well ALMOST the same...

In the meantime...8800 owners, be my guests

Send me the OTA link and I'll gladly test. Currently using BBSpell which does a good job when you do not have autocheck turned on and when you are in an area where you get service.

I'm interested in testing as well. How do I contact the appropriate person (I have PM's turned off since I never check them on any forum site).

Hello,

I am a high volume emailer and a chronically bad speller. Please feel free to send me a link for beta testing and I will gladly give feedback.

Sincerely - A. Cohen

Sorry for the short delay folks...been busy yesterday.

First and above all, please download the current release (1.45) of LexSpell from Welcome to BEIKS Mobile! .

Then get it to crash on your device in a reliable manner.

I was told to do it this way: create new email, set subject to "Test" and body to "testt.", then invoke LexSpell through the menu.

(note you must have run LexSpell at least once after download in order for the menu to become available)

After you correct the "testt" to "test" it should crash, or so I am told.

We just can't get that to happen on neither simulator, nor 8700 flashed to the same OS 4.2.1 nor any other device.

So for a starter I am looking for a very reliable way to reproduce the error as well as darn good description of what happens.

Once we have that, we'll move on to downloading the 1.5 beta and watch out to isolate and resolve the problem.
