I believe it's a service book issue at Nextel, where Nextel is pretty reluctant to globally send out all the web browser service books. The web browser is already there but hidden -- just like the web browser automatically "shows up" when you purchase BES (since getting Hosted BES essentially guarantees you the BlackBerry Browser on virtually all carriers), even without installing any extra software.
You have to contact Nextel, and this is usually a frustrating endeavour. For some reason, Nextel enabled the browser for a few users, then stopped doing it for some reason..

I have too...
I have already downloaded the update, and have noticed that my two way numbers have been scratched from my phone book. I have tried to to two way people from my recent call list and it pushes the cursor to the blank part of the screen where you dial the number directly.
Any clues. I am thinking about uninstalling the new software, but have to still figure out how too. Any ideas?
Thanks for the input, and your website is pretty good. I would like to know if you would mind hosting a couple of jad and jars I have for a program that I want to load into my blackblacky. I have tried using with Blackberry JDE with some success and am having a little bit of a hard time, uddating it so I can try the GPS on it and simulate the program before I load it.
Thanks, Nextelnutt

I had to go through and resave all my dc numbers after the upgrade. Since I did that no problems at all

So If I redownload the software, what will happen. I got all my two way numbers back, but I didn't resave them. I think it was a matter of power cycling the phone.
I am still not sure why it did what it did. I am doing a backup of it now.

1. Try the "Send Internet Browsing Service Book" from your Nextel BWC (website via your PC)
2. Via your BlackBerry, try Options -> Host Routing Tables -> Register Now
3. Finally, if that still doesn't work even after 5 minutes, reboot your BlackBerry by removing the battery and then reinserting.
THEN, you might be able to get your Nextel HTML browser. No guarantees though!

Mark, can you confirm if the HTML browser I have (photos posted on my blog in link below) is the BES or the BWC browser rumored to roll out May 16th? Thanks.

Judging by the icon and the title, that would appear to be the BWC browser.
The BWC Browser is normally named "Internet Browser" and the icon is what you show above -- the globe with the three people standing around it.
The BES Browser is normally named "Blackberry Browser" by default (although it can be changed in IT Policy on the BES), and the icon is a globe with an office building behind it.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows CE; PPC; 240x320))
when you talked to the CSR did they mention if the browser is going to be a lone update... OTA maybe? the html viewer is great... although tough to use on the BB... html is rough even on my ipaq. im more interested in the aim and yahoo software... but id guess that they would be ssaving that for later

Here is what I got today.
Open up your desktop Manager. Let it go through its process. Once it is done, it will say connected.
Click on Application Loader.
Click Next. It will load the Handheld Application Selection. You will notice that items you can change are black, items you can't change are grey.
However, if you look at the greay item below Brickbreaker, it is grey and says Browser.
Click on that and a blue bar runs accross it.
Click on Details, and it shows you the following.
Browser Properties
General
Name: Browser
Version: 4.0
Description Provides the ability to access wireless-web based services and applications.
Company: Research In Motion
Copyright: Copyright 1998-2005 Research In Motion
Location: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\7520-v4.0.0.249_P1.4.0.40\Browser.alx
This is where I have it. However, I believe it should show the appropiate location even if you dont have it in the same drive.
Click OK and go to the next box, which says Modules
Module Name Installed Version Available Version
net_rim_bb_browser_rendering_lib 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
net_rim_bb_browser_lib 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
net_rim_bb_browser_daemon 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
net_rim_bb_browser_field_api 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
net_rim_loader 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
net_rim_bb_browser_lib_large 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
net_rim_bb_browser_lib_large_color 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
BlackBerry XML Library
net_rim_xml 4.0.0.249 4.0.0.249
Click on the next tab, it says Dependencies
This application requires that these other applications or libraries be installed.
Application Name Size
BlackBerry XML Library 73K
When you go to the Browser AXL file and click on it, it states that No additional applications designed for your handheld were found.
So what I would like to know if anyone has the XML Library that this speaks of. Is in the files for people who have the BES Service.
Of course this is going through the Blackberry Desktop Manager. I am going to pull up the Software Loader that I have found earlier in this thread and see if it tells me the same thing.

That be true and from what I heard, it may be longer. But I dont like to know. I like to see. Does anybody know about the XML Library that I referred to in my post.
Please put what you see on your loader so we can compare.
