Default Cingular+Open Tunnel Failure = FIX!

Please Login to Remove!

After searching and try numerous thing, I was finally able to get Ramble and all the 3rd party apps. that required WAP portal working.

If you are experiencing Open tunnel failure on your blackberry, don't bother calling Cingular. I spent 2hrs on the phone trying to get the data rep. to add a certain line to my account but she kept insisting that was not the problem. I got frustrated and just hung up on her. I logged on to the cingular live forum and my problem was fixed in 5 min.

Easiest way to fix the open tunnel failure problem, is to log into the live tech forum on cingulars support website. After logging in ask the question "I am having problems using programs on my blackberry that require WAP@CINGULAR APN"

A tech should contact you and will simply add "WAP@CINGULAR APN" to your account and ask you to power cycle you phone and you are done.

No talking to useless reps. and spending countless min on the phone

You can do that yourself by going to options, advanced options, then tcp and add that there yourself as well. When I had Cingular, I was able to do that myself unless that's disabled now.

you can manually add the TCP info, but the cingular rep has to add the line "WAP@CINGULAR APN" to your account for it to work

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

This may be a case by case basis. I set my owm without engaging cingular and have not had issues with 3rd party apps.

When manually entering it yourself, is there a username and password?

Go to Options->TCP
APN: wap.cingular
Username:WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM
Password: CINGULAR1

Be sure to do a hard reset(pop battery out and wait 30 secs) and pop back in afterwards.

This worked for me. I had checked, rechecked, re-installed BBWeather multiple times. I was able to login to the Tech Support Forum and a rep was able to make the needed change and now I am checking BBWeather without issue!

Thanks for the tip!

Default Eureka!

I added the wap.cingular information and was finally able to sync some of my third party applications that had previously stated that there was a problem with tunnel Failure. Thanks for posting!
