I have a few questions regarding the blackberry email.

1. what is the use for setting up an account with tmo.blackberry.net?

2. can I check email for this email account from a desktop computer instead of my pearl?

thanks.

This is an email address soley for your BB. You can use it to forward your mail to your BB if you can't setup BIS with your email provider for some reason. You are not able to view the emails from the web, however. I created one when I first got a BB over two years ago but have since deleted it becuase I didn't really need it and started getting spam on it.

Hope this helps.

John Clark,
I see you have TMo as well. Not to contradict you on your previous post, but at one time, I thought that you were able to check your emails via the BIS. When did TMo do away with that? I just switched back to BB, and remembered that I could access the email via the myTMobile site at one time from work, since we have SonicWall installed not allowing us to check our web based emails like gmail, yahoo, etc,. In switching back to BB to stay now, I did not catch that they did away with that, or am I dreaming? Thanks

True. It used to be that way. However, quite a while back they upgraded the BIS and did away with that feature. It's one of the reasons I deleted my tmo.blackberry.net address.

Wirelessly posted (7130e: BlackBerry7130e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/105)

The bb email address comes in handy because you receive it instantly. I think the others besides gmail and yahoo poll every 10 or 15 minutes.

Quite true. That's why I switched to GMail...no spam either!

I don't use my TMO addy. Which sucked when I had to put a filter on it to stop the SPAM in the middle of the night. Has anyone ever bought anything from spam?

Thanks John for your answer.

So, basically the blackberry mail a/c is useless since I already have gmail and yahoo pushed to my cell.

Maybe not entirely useless. I have a BIS filter set up for my Gmail account to keep Gmail from delivering a copy of all sent messages to my BlackBerry; this filter essentially stops delivery to my BB of any email that has the "from" address of my Gmail account. However, every now and then I want a copy of an email I am sending from Gmail sent to my phone, so this way all I have to do is BCC my [email address] address, and then that message bypasses my BIS filter for my Gmail account. Works perfectly
