Default PocketMac DELETES Contacts

PocketMac is and has been one of the worst Mac apps ever written. For years I have hoped with each new release that they'd get the bugs out... but it hasn't happened yet.

Check out all the people reporting DATA LOSS with PocketMac:

Please third party developers... will someone with a clue come out with a better alternative?

Ditto. Much less frustration after accepting the fact that PM 4.0 does not work. Maybe RIM can release a future Mac Sync solution that works.

It boggles the mind that RIM would put their name on PocketMac.

I used it initially and it worked great!! I did have to do a wipe once, and when I went back to reload, it actually wiped my address book on the computer. I think i made a bad selection and did it to myself tho....luckily i backup with .mac and all was fine!

PM worked perfectly for me on my 7100, as soon as I switched to the 8100 all the problems started. I have no idea why! I wrote to RIM, they just wont answer.

Well, finally Ive got answers from RIM. Suddenly a whole platoon of support guys helped me out trough their CRM by mail... it seems that they work somwhere in Europe or maybe Asia... all the answers came during night. (Im in Mexico).

They advised me to use a sync cleaning utilty found here.

Still after doing this I had a problem with PocketMac it wasn´t detecting my phone. The only way I madeit work was opening each applications sync options while having the phone connected... weird hugh? but it worked!! Now everything works as it should.

I know, I it sounds like voodoo magic but hope it works for you too.

oh wow, i thought it was just me. when i synched for the first time, it took out all the numbers, but left the names of the people in my address book. i never backed up.... super sad face.

i'm glad to hear that it wasn't just me.
