I just got my 8100 from t-mobile. I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but when Put my finger behind the phone like on the battery cover and I press it in softly it kinda goes in a little. Is this normal?

That is normal. See other threads that discuss the little foam square that is under the cover and also the flimsiness of the battery cover.

Best to get some protection on the Pearl.

Get the Best Skins Ever, which places a strong film on all parts of the Pearl.

Also get a case for it. The full range of cases discussed in here, from leather, plastic, rubber, minimalist, or whatever you prefer.

Personally, I like the Seidio rubberized case, it just came out. But they have other types too. Their prices are higher than some, but you get what you pay for.

Another thing, for some reason when ever I touch the left side of the phone ( The silver part) voice dialing turns on, it happens when ever i touch any part of the left side of the phone.

it should only be the button that activates the VAD. that would be the reason I would take it back to T-Mo to swap out. I put a case on mine and don't feel the battery door any more.

I'm going to take it back to t-mobile to swap it. Also when ever someone calls me i see there number with a 1 in front of it. I use to have VZW before this and i only saw the area code and the number, no 1. Is this normal for t-mobile or is there a way to only show the area code + number without the 1 in the front of it.

Thanks for the great links! Do you know if when using this skin you can still fit it in the leather t mobile style case? Also, does it prevent the magnet from powering it off?

Thanks!

I felt the rubberized case made it too hard to put into the SDA case I had prior to the holster from seidio. it fit, just didn't slide in and out to my liking. just my .02

The Best Skins Ever skin [BSE] is a thin film that tightly adheres to the surface of the Pearl.

The skin is "invisible" in that it does not affect any of the uses you mention above.

I have NOT had the skin affect use of any of my cases, including putting on or removing rubber cases [the flexible ones, that are kind of like wetsuits] or sliding the phone in and out of any of the four types of leather cases I have.
