Any special tooling required?
What size screwdriver?
Anything to watch out for?
How much forces did you have to use for particular parts?
Step 1,2,3, ?

(ain't I a bugger)
PS - THANKS for the pics!
I know someone else spray painted thiers and ended up ordering a new case via RIM. Would be interesting to know weather you can get other cases (v,g,x) and mod the actual unit with a different case kit.
It seems like all parts are totally replacable (including screen), have you ordered a new screen?

Default BlackBerry 7100t

Hi there.. Had occasion to see the insides of a 7100t.

Materials:
Torx #6
Flat-head screwdriver of similar size... Icing spatula, butter knife...
Toothpick
BB 7100

Procedure:
Remove battery cover
Remove battery
Insert toothpick under speakerphone cover at top of battery compartment.
Gently push retaining pins toward speaker until they release
Remove speakerphone cover
Remove Torx bits from each of the corners
Set unit on it's side
Gently press the dark slit near the keypad inward until bottom releases
Gently press just below the jog dial/USB port until that clip releases.
It may not be possible to open the case without breaking this clip.
This may be by design.
Separate the case halves.

<Insert your fun here>

Install battery, check functionality, remove battery
Lay front half of the shell face down
Inserting the Escape button side first, lay the unit in the shell
Position back half of shell atop unit.
Gently thread Torx screws 2-3 turns
Tap keyboard end of case on table to seat unit in case
Gently press shell halves together & bump unit unitl shell gently snaps together
Manuallly tighten screws
These are very, very easy to strip.
Install battery, check functionality, remove battery
Insert top of speaker cover
Rest bottom of speaker cover on holes
Use flat edge to press retaining clips toward speaker until they drop in
Install battery cover

Call your <mother/father/sister/brother/girl/boyfriend/priest> and say hello.

Do you get the feeling you could replace the case and keyboard with one from another unit or no??

WHEN IS SOMEONE GOING TO TRY THIS?!?! I WANT MY 7100X!!!!!

Default shell swap

Knowing what I do of manufacturing efficiencies,I cannot think it would be a big deal to swap the Kb & shell... Software, however, might well trip you up if there are differences between the numbers of keys available, or the placement thereof.

I note in annoyance the trend away from easily manipulated shells - Nokia's 5100 seems the pinnacle in my limited experience.

OTOH, the 7100's shell mounter speaker is a nice touch.
