VZW 8703e Battery Life (Real World Environment)
Please Login to Remove!
Folks,
Trust all is well.
To give you some background - had an 8700c, but picked up a Q for reliable voice coverage. I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss the BB.
As it is now released for VZW, one note is the change in battery life (8703 vs. 8700x) - CDMA being the culprit here.
Even with the GSM unit - the real life battery settings were on average a solid 2 days (~150 emails/day - 1.5 hrs talk - adequate use of browsing - holdem on the subway.)
I'm trying to get a gauge of how the 8703e battery life is fairing as some of you have had it for a couple of days now.
InPocket stated somewhere that his battery life was quite erratic going up and down - other then that, haven't seen/heard too much in regards to battery life.
Please share your insight.
Regards,
dolo

Mine, is solid as far as usage goes. I have noticed a little flucuation as well but nothing problematic. I took mine off the charger at about 7:00am and talked all the way to my office (35 minutes) recieved about 50-60 emails and maybe another hour or so of talk time, battery has not maved a bar yet...

Do you have any instant messaging applications, or any other app that access the internet, running?

Allen,
I went back and forth on Ramble, Yak & IM+
Junior - keep us in the loop with what the battery meter is showing when you get home.
So far it looks encouraging.

I don't know how long the battery lasts yet, but I will tell you that it is taking forever to charge...

Over the past two full days of use...
Taking it off of the charger at 9am... with about 1.5hrs of talk... ~40 emails... around 30min total of web browsing... ~10 text messages... by midnight or 1am... it's still got 4 out of the 5 battery bars. Going to Options/status shows battery no lower than 70%.
I'd say that's fantastic for a CDMA device. Blows my Q away.

just got the 8703 for VZW and the first full day of using it decimated the battery with maybe 1.5 hours of talk time, 15 emails and a half hour of browsing. I did have brightness set at 100% for the first 4 hours so not sure how that affected it. Now it's at 50%.
I am a first time BB user so are there any "no duh' programs/settings that are sapping battery power that I can turn off or disable?
Thanks

my battery is excellent, i have my screen set to %90, several hours talking, at least 75 emails, bunch of sms messages and a bunce of bb messanger, also downloaded some things and did some web browsing. From yesterday at 7:00am until this morning at around 9:00am i still had one bar of battery left. damn good if you ask me...

Ok, from what I am seeing after about 18 hours now, with average use, about 1 hour of calls about 10 emails and about 1 hour of browsing, I am now at 80%

I think the key question here should be BIS or BES. I wonder if that makes the difference. My battery life is very poor. Much better then the Q but poor for a Blackberry. I need the extended battery door!

Wow - that's frankly...way above what I was even hoping for.
18 hours on heavy use IMO is fantastic...especially for CDMA.

Are you still haveing a problem?
I notice on mine that the bar goes from full directly to 3 bars never stopping at 4.
Anyone else?
Battery life in general is great.
