Bought a BB 7290 from ebay,they claimed it was new but it came in a used att box, but the phone appeared to be new and has cingular logo on it.
I transfered my sim card from moto v phone and it works great! I can recieve sms messages but theres no option in the window to reply to sms? I went to cingular store and talked to them about it but they didnt know anything even called cingulars special blackberry departmant help line with no luck? also installed new software from BB, but still NO SMS option. Any help would be appreciated.

Go to Options > Security or Options > Security Options > General Settings. Does it list an IT policy? If so, this device was previously attached to a BES server and the policy may be restricting SMS use. you would need to clear the IT policy before being able to use SMS. Search the forums for instructions on how to remove IT Policy.

under General SettingS I see on bottom of screen IT Policy= Defualt Last updated Jan 25,2006

Yup, you have a policy. When you don't have one the area is blank or non-existent

I would send that back to the person on Ebay. The BB is clearly not new if it already has an IT policy on it and came in an AT&T box.

unfourtunatly i cant return it as the ebay transaction was too long passed.
are you sure theres nothing that can be done to fix this?
