I've had a similar problem when I tried to forward a message that was no longer on the server, but this one sounds a little more complicated...

Did anyone else have problems after applying MS06-29?

Last month, I didn't have any problems with MS06-19, the Exchange patch that required a workaround to get BES to work. I implemented the workaround and all was well

MS06-29 comes around, and yesterday my *most* users were not able to send (they could receive).

I did what RIM advises in its KB and followed the directions in MS KB912918. No love. Had my boss call my reseller so they could call RIM and see what the deal is. They said to follow KB912918. When I told my boss that we did that and it didn't work, I told him to call them back. They said the same thing, follow KB912918.

So I called MS Support.

MS support advised that I had to *MANUALLY* add my BES service account with SEND AS perms to all my BES users.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

I had this same problem and manually assigned the permissions to each user. Works fine except for any users in the administrator groups. These users get the send as permission automatically removed within an hour. I'm still searching for a way around this. Anyone else having this same problem ?

We had the same problem. Besadmin spoofs your account to send and the patch kills that. the work around does work except in 1 case. If your user is a domain admin you can set the permissions but if you go back in they are set back. There is an explect deny with domain admins. We had to dump our admins (only 5 of us) off to another exchange server that didn't get patched due to it not being used to route any users. well now it has us until a reall fix comes out. It is an MS issue that BES is going to have to fix.

With respect to domain admin accounts that are also BES users -- why not simply create an admin account for each user that they have to login to when they need to do admin work? It's not the best idea to have a privileged account as your day-to-day account in any case.
