BB Trade Up Program
Please Login to Remove!
I had not heard of BB doing this program but you get to trade in your current BB for an upgrade. You get a quote on your current device and then determine which upgrade you want!

THe 8700r is the rogers version of the 8700. it is identical in form and function to the 8700c from cingular with the exception of colour. The 8700g is identical to both, with the exception of slight changes in the case (more V shaped). Form factor, function and, to the ebst of my knowledge, all internal hardware is identical.

The 7520 and 7290 are listed, they're under the handhelds category. Why are only the 7100 series listed as business BBs. Why can't the 8700 series be considered business BBs?

It doesn't look like it's run by RIM. At the bottom of the page it says "TradeUpsxxx174; is powered by Market Velocity. xxx169;2005 Market Velocity. All Rights Reserved. TradeUps 1.2.3 20060427" and the customer service has a Market Velocity email address. It sounds like TradeUps is its own brand.

Just wanted to be sure everyone knows that....
The OP indicated "I had not heard of BB doing this program" (there is no company called BB anyway) and I wanted to be sure people realized this does not appear to be run by Research in Motion.

Yes, it's good to know that before hand so you know what chances you might be taking.

If it is not run by RIM, why should they post a direct link to the tradeup offer at http://www.discoverblackberry.com?

I believe that they post that link so you can be educated before making a decision on which BB you want to upgrade to. In the Help section of this program's site you can read: "Typographical errors
In the event that a product is listed at an incorrect value due to a typographical error or miscalculation by the database, Market Velocity, Inc. shall have the right to refuse or cancel the transaction within seven calendar days after the date of the actual trade (see Terms and Conditions).
Check delivery
All checks are mailed via the U.S. Postal Service to the address designated in your transaction. Market Velocity, Inc. will issue your check approximately 45 days after receipt and inspection of your traded product and validation of your proof of purchase, whichever is later."
This Market Velocity Inc. seems to be running the show.

Thi amounts to a way to sell your old device except you must prove you bought a new one and it's 45 days to get the check. I don't know about sending my old device and having to wait 45 days for the bucks.

From the FAQ on the trade up page:
Who is Market Velocity?
Market Velocity provides a complete trade-in solution for BlackBerry customers. They have developed a customized BlackBerry Trade Up web site that is always available via the Internet. Market Velocity specializes in remarketing, refurbishing, and dispositioning used equipment and can provide the maximum values for customers interested in updating to new BlackBerry devices
This makes me think it isn't run by RIM.
Also, someone said the 7290 is under the handheld category. The only category I can find is PDA. What am I missing?
