Default Does Cingular BB Service support BIS 2.0?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello All

I am currently using BB 7100t on T-Mo through BIS. One of the best features is that it deletes e-mails from my inbox once I've deleted them on the handheld.

My T-Mo contract is due to expire and I'm thinking of switching to Cingular with the 8700c.

Does Cingular have the same delete feature? -- I ask since a few months back, one of my co-workers had to get me to log into his Cingular BIS account and delete e-mails since his inbox got clogged even though he deleted the e-mails from the handheld.

Thanks
Taha

No, they say (I mean that I read on here) that it is coming. Not yet though.

Do a search for the topic and you will see a bunch of threads that discuss this in depth.

I can just tell you it is not available now.

Yes. There is an option when you log into the BIS, under "profile" to have them deleted from the inbox when you delete them from the handheld.

I may have read the question wrong but I thought the post was in reference to deleting on PC, not on BIS itself- if so- my bad.

johnfromphilly,

Thanks for your reply -- apologies for not running a search first.

The scenario is as follows.....On T-Mo's BIS, I have set my profile such that when I delete an e-mail from my handheld it is automatically deleted from my InBox and moved to the Deleted Folder on both BIS and my Outlook Web Account. That way I never have a full InBox and am saved from having to delete e-mails twice -- once from BIS and then again from Outlook.

Hope the scenario is clearer. I am guessing from cleefly's response (thanks!)that BIS on Cingular DOES have this feature as well?

Thanks
Taha

The functions you described are not yet available from Cingular.

If that is the case, my original answer ( and Duckwingduck's) is correct, you cannot do it .....yet.

Sorry.

Yes, sorry, this is correct. So with T-Mobile it will actually delete the email from a non-blackberry mail server, POP, etc.? That's a pretty nice feature. I just have my POP acct autoforwarded to my BIS acct (with a copy kept on the mail server) so I get the email instantaneously, rather than checking every 15 minutes, so that might be the only trade off, if that's the case with T-Mobile.

With T-Mobile, once you delete an email off the BB, it is gone forever. They shut down their BWC website last year right before the 7105t was released. The only things you can do by logging into your tmobile account on a pc now are add/remove addresses, change your signature, send service books, and set the date and time zone.

Cingular does not have BES 2.0 but your can currently choose to have an item that is deleted from the BB also deleted from the inbox. With 2.0 there is no web mail. What is supported is a copy of mail sent from the BB appears in your sent folder, deleted BB mail goes in the trash and read and unread marks are synchronized.
