I am trying to connect a Zoom Bluetooth PCMCIA card and have it perform two functions:
1. Tether to connect to laptop via Verizon EVDO.
2. Sync with Blackberry Device Manager.
I am using a BB 7130e from Verizon and I have op systems 4.1 on both the BB and desktop manager. THe Desktop Manager is 4.1.0.10. Is this the latest available? The "enable bluetooth option" is not abailable to check in the properties section. I have the third party software installed since Windows XP Pro SP2 did not recognize the PCMCIA bluetooth card and allow me to connect via the Windows drivers. I talked to Microsoft and RIM and they both had no idea how to help me.
Is there any way to make this happen? With the third party software, I get the BB to connect to the laptop but the enable BT option is still not available.
Any help you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. I tried that but Windows is not automatically installing the bluetooth device. It asks me for a cd or a specific location in order to install the device. Is there any workaround for the 3rd party drivers that came with the Bluetooth PC card so that it can install with Windows generic bluetooth drivers? I can select the generic driver and in the device manager, it seems to read the the BT device but there is no BT icon in the control panel neither is the "Enabel BT option" in the properties of device manager checkable.
any thoughts?
You HAVE to use the windows drivers. You need to uninstall the 3rd party's and then using the found new hw wizard, manually install generic bt drivers. I had to do that with my Toshiba BT.
Was your BT device on MS approved list of devices? If not, how did you get the BT icon in the control panel? Where in the device manager is the BT hardware installed? Is it as a COM port or something else?
