Problem with BIS
Please Login to Remove!
I bought a blackberry of from ebay, where the seller said it was BES and not BIS. Having a blackberry before I knew this could be removed easily through deleting the IT policy and wiping the phone.
I did this and it still didn't work, I called T-mobile, my service provider and had several convo's till I got through to their 'advance' team. Where they said do everything I already did.
Now I checked through Checkmend, and T-mobile and the phone is not reported as stolen and can make/recieve calls, althought he checkmend report said that someone has filed for insurance on the phone.
But besides that, everything works save the BIS. When I try register online, it mentions that the "blackberry internet service is either suspended or deactivated", I know its not my BIS as T-mobile verified I paid and is active on my sim and I tried several other blackberry Sims in the phone.
The model is a 9780 on Os6. When I scroll up and click the network thing, it shows T-mobile with a tick as my network.
When I scroll down, towards service status it shows BIS as "Not connected"
Online, when I click forgot passward, it says it sends to the device but I don't receive it. On my other BB, I do it and get a message in moments.
While talking to T-mobile, I clicked Host routing and activate, it says it will send but I don't recieve anything and they didn't either.
They said the phone may be faulty, but I think the Rim side of things is the problem.
Whether its still registered or they blocked the BIS from the phone.
Any help? The person I bought it from will not take it back and I will take it to paypall/ebay but that takes a while.

Re: Problem with BIS
Perhaps it's still registered to the BIS plan of the previous owner. You need to get the original owner to speak to his carrier and have the PIN released. Usually only the original owner can have the device removed from his account.

Re: Problem with BIS
Sounds to me like one of two things, either the device PIN is still attached to another data service, or it's blocked. See what others say on that detail, but I think you are SOL.

Re: Problem with BIS
Sounds like maybe the person who sold it to you should not have done so. Perhaps this device belongs to the employer and was blacklisted.

Re: Problem with BIS
Worse thing is, the person brought it from another person who buys and sells so many phones, all they (both) listed was that it was asking for BES. Thats how all phones are when you start it, unless you got a data plan then you can input your own email.
I'm gonna call t-mobile and ask them to talk to RIM and check if its blocked due to being stolen or lost, since an insurance claim was made on this IMEI number.

Re: Problem with BIS
If it's showing 'Set up Enterprise Email' when you go to the Email Setup, that does not mean that it is "asking for BES". That means that the Data Plan isn't set up properly.
But it does not address the issue of whether or not the device has been released from the previous user.

Re: Problem with BIS
I know it doesn't mean that, that how it is by defualt.
How would I tell if it not released. My service provider said everything is fine and should be fine, but its not going through, I deleted all service books, wiped the devies, rendered it usless and reput the OS, everything they said, Yet when I click host route table, it doesn't send a message.
Nor when I go online and click forgot password, does the device connect to RIM. They said they don't know whats wrong with it.

Can you log into Orange's BIS page and enter your PIN/IMEI?

Re: Problem with BIS
I can't log into any networks BIS page.
All pages are the same and are to do with RIM. It all says "Your blackbery internet service is either suspended or deactivated" and after googleing it, the consensus its that its either still on someones name or its stolen or blocked by rim.

Re: Problem with BIS
You are trying to use it on the same carrier as it was originally on aren't you?
If not it may be locked.

Re: Problem with BIS
How do I know? Not being a rude, I just don't know. The phone lacks any service provider on it, so no T-mobile, O2, Vodaphone, Verizon, sprint etc logo's on the handset.
Before they said the phone is clean, on the service providers, side, so I can and have stuck diferent sim cards and made calls/recieved...
It may be blocked or locked on RIM's side.

Re: Problem with BIS
It looks like you tried just about everything so it may be as simple as checking to see if the BB is locked and for a few bucks have it unlocked. At the top of the Forum there is a link for the service.
How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

Re: Problem with BIS
I checked that already and its unlocked. Any RIM email addresses I can have, the number t-mobile gave me was for service providers only. -hardtimes-

Re: Problem with BIS
You can go the their web site. Depending on how good a talker you are you may not get charged.
Someone else may have a number

Re: Problem with BIS
$50 is a lot of money, and I don't live in America as well..
I'm a student, and this is killing me already...I wish rim was like apple, any problem with my Iphone, I go to any shop and they help and even provide me with another handset, which happened before and I lacked my receipt.
I'll never buy a second hand blackerry again unless I know the previous and original owner.

Re: Problem with BIS
Rim is still tied to businesses and they pay easy. Like i said. Depends on how good you can talk. I would try a visit to your carrier again. They should be able to help. Ask for the second tier support people. You may have better luck.
