Default 9700 Vodafone UK Servicebook issue, Dropping off Relay

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Strangers, LTNS.

I've been around the houses this year, looking for a better blackberry deal (vodafone>Orange>o2>Vodafone) - and i've got a rather strange problem.

when using Vodafone! live (or 360, or whatever the hell its called this week) - when connected via 3G, my device drops off the RIM Relay (lose the windows "Flag" next to 3G) which causes me to miss e-mails etc.

I had this problem on my 9000 all those moons ago, and vodafone got so sick of me moaning, upgraded me to a 9700 mid term. - now, they have told me that i must have OS6 to resolve the issue (even tho the 9700 they gave me back in the day worked flawlessly) - Vodafone's offshore tech have advised me to update device software etc, but its made no difference.

im right in thinking that the "must" OS6 thing is tripe, and the issue lies with the way Vodafone allows WAP traffic to access its BlackBerry APN (or vice versa)

a good head scratcher for Monday...

[Its the "blackberry dots", not windows flag]

When using Vodafone Live, you are using WAP and therefore a different APN (as opposed to Internet Browser which routes through the blackberry APN) and I don't see it as strange that it drops blackberry data, as your using a different APN.
