Hi, I've had several people tell me that they updated Google Maps to version 4.4.0 and after doing so, they are reporting that when they open the app, it closes right away. I tried installing it on my Verizon Storm 9530 as well as a Sprint Curve 8530, both of which experienced the symptoms others have described to me. I installed it via BlackBerry Browser as some forums have suggested to no avail, even though I didn't think the browser should matter. I installed it on a spare Sprint 8330 and it works like a champ. The only thing I can find in common with the reporters of the problem is that they are all on OS 5.0, whereas it seems to work on 4.5 (the 8330 I successfully installed it on). Has anyone seen this problem and/or found a fix for it?

Did you try a battery pull?

Yes, I have tried a battery pull on both devices, the Verizon Storm 9530 and Sprint Curve 8530. We have downloaded using Internet Browser and BlackBerry Browser. We have changed all permissions on the Google Maps app to "Allow" as well as making sure the GPS Services is set to "Location On".

No issue with my upgrade. Did you allow the modifications?

I didn't "upgrade". I uninstalled the old version - reboot - installed new version.

All is working fine.

We did allow modifications when we initially upgraded the app on the Curve 8530, however, I did a clean install on the 9530 from the beginning and still had problems.

Delete and try again until it works. It will eventually.
